Sorry, I'm not trying to be cold about this. Should we restart, for Aqualung's sake? I thought the theme of this game was going to be something along the lines of "roughin' it", but I guess some of us have it rougher than others (which we would have never known if everyone was completely silent!). I'm fine either way.

Yeah, and then some other will call for a restart, and then we will run out of restarts, and then what? Mind you, this setting calls for a bad starting place for at least one player.

Maybe we should just take a look at each other's starting locations, and call a winner now? Would be quicker that way.

In my experience, that's not always the way it works in PBEM games.

Anyone else's input on this? Otherwise I suggest we keep moving...

Dom's likely correct that pbem games, if we could just get people to play them to the finish, will not be "linear" like games against the AI.

They will likely play out more like a bicycle race on the tech side. You can get a lead, but it's hard to hold.

And there should be a tendency for the leader to attract the attention of civs that are lagging, causing a bit of negative feedback that should keep the game interesting.

Even though the game is silent, there are a lot of metagame issues that can make it interesting to play from a bad start, although your expectations should be realistic.

For myself, I just play the games out regardless of the start. When I sometimes do well, it's not necessarily because I'm any better than the opposition. But when I get pounded, it's always because of a bad start
