What is it customary to guess only letters? It's seldom I can stay intouch with the thread consistently enough to have any expectation of an opportunity to take my shot.

I I thought the whole point was to guess the word....

One reason why you shouldn't have guessed the word and one reason why you should have.

If you want to stand a chance of catching up with DrSpike one day you shouldn't give away points to him like that (reason against - all of us united to check DrSpike).

There was only one guess left and several possible words so even if you narrowed it down to only two words we could have still lost (reason for - you had a chance of increasing your score). I apologise, your guess wasn't really selfish. FrustratedPoet's guess was.


For the record, I had considered to guess gulch but expected someone else to guess U and then to guess G while leaving a chance to the others to guess the other word. That's team play. I wonder why you're always such team players when I give words and quite selfish when DrSpike gives them in spite of the fact his words are more fiendish than mine.

Chill chill guys, I don't think Jrabbit's guess was selfish. I always guess the word too unless it's better to guess a letter, like it was when there were 2 guesses left.

OK, so there's a "stop Spike" thing going on. Got it. But this seems to suggest that my guess would have been OK as long as it wasn't Spiky's word.

It's also pretty clear that I'll make Deity long before I can catch Spike. So no regrets.
