Entering in when stillness fills the ceiling down to the floor and back wall to front door, cherished memories come rushing back. No, a wake has not been called for memories do not die and a building is not the sum total of the existence of a cultural focal point.
Exactly how does one describe parting ways with an old friend while moving across a precipice formed by said relationship?
Solid yet pleasing, The Wild Boar has hosted some late night celebratory functions, mediating potential battle plans and even laying a worn soul down for rest.
Peering through the entranceway, a solid structure once proud as an old warrior, starting to show its wear. Rugged hinges ever slightly pulling away with natures help, the door not quite fitting its frame. If you had a keen eye, one could see a slight leaning as the walls crumbled from years and shifting soil.
The floors, stained with many a drink spilled from an inebriated visitor roaming from table to table in awe of tales and even fables spread by the Horde Brethren. The food consumed here was second in the meat of the bond of the Horde whom fed off one another’s strength and even soothed ones another’s frailties and weakness’.
The cooking hearth sets on the other side of the main support beam, which helps hold the chimney from the open fireplace on the front side of the main seating area. I remember the night we almost lost the Wild Boar due to one slight indiscretion of consuming fermented drink when I, Sage of the Horde, knew I had to remain true to my pledge of sobriety, yet consume indeed I did unto even excess! Khan Paddy and me had a slight wrestling match, well, both consumed with a passion blinded by small ambitions desiring to be heard. Fortunately, we have learned The Horde shall rise above such minuscule trivial matters. Brethren will always be passionate about beliefs and yet even during the midst of thunder and lightning, the storms shall not wreck the foundations Brother Have!
The warmth radiating from our bevy of beauties keeps ones ticker in a constant flux. Michelle and Sabdra as well as Suzette and many more ladies serving mind you with honor our basic necessary wants, food, fellowship and drink.
Camaraderie with the many Brethren here has filled the walls with life.
This Wild Boar shall never leave us. The building is as an old friend, needing some overhauling. We would never let the Old Man known as The Wild Boar to die, no because it lives within our souls.
* Grandpa Troll pops his hawk bill out of its sheath and scores his palm, wiping along the rail in significance of a blood tie that binds.
The new cultural centre will not be the Wild Boar yet the Wild Boar will be in the new cultural center as long as we grace its interior.
A toast Blood Red Horde to an old friend we shall always honor!
* Grandpa Troll leads by pouring drink onto the floor in a time-honored tradition of mighty warriors offering up to victory.
Mighty Horde lets plan our new facility and prepare a new place for our old friend The Wild Boar to rest amongst us!
Although our sign of the Blood Red Horde still stand, all should agree Our Friend is showing age
