While I think Belgium is downright ugly (compared to say Holland or Luxemburg or bordering areas in France and Germany) I appreciate music such as Suicide Commando and Front 242.

You don't like Art Nouveau or mediaeval architecture ? |
I think the country as a whole is ugly, compared to neighbouring countries. There are always exceptions, off course.

Aahh, the new Belgian truffle centre.
Like the French confection called a nun's fart ?
' Yield: 40 little farts. Or, to make One Large Fart, pour batter into a heavy cast iron pan and bake in a 375 oven for one hour.
6 T butter
2 tsp sugar
pinch salt
1 tsp grated lemon rind
4 eggs
1 cup sifted flour'
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp dark rum (optional)
Oil for deep frying
Confectioner's sugar
Compine butter sugar salt and lemon rind with 1 cup water in a saucepan and bring the mixture slowly to a boil. When butter is completely melted, remove from heat. Break each of your eggs into a separate cup and have these ready.
When you remove the pan from the heat, add all the flour at once, stirring until all of it is absorbed. When the flour has been absorbed into a paste, turn the heat to medium high and return the pan to it. Cook this mixture for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly, scraping sides and bottom, until the batter clings together in a solid mass, and takes on a glossy look. Turn off the heat and remove the pan from the stove.
Beat in the vanilla, rum, and allow the batter to cool a bit. Then make a well in the center, pour in 1 egg, beat it into the batter until incorporated. Proceed with the remaining three eggs, beating them in one at a time. The pastry should be "flexible and soft, firm enough to hold its shape and not at all runny." Set it aside and let it rest for 45 minutes.
Fill a deep skillet or deep fat fryer 2/3 full of oil and heat to 360. Drop the batter into the hot oil a teaspoonful at a time.
The farts will puff up to about four times their original size, so don't crowd them in the fryer. When golden brown, drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioner's sugar. '
