Inhaled last night, will inhale tonight, probably will inhale tomorrow night. My first bong was made from a salt shaker and a garden hose nozzle - compact and efficient. Alas, long gone, but not forgotten.

I used to work at a Federal research lab, and when I was bored I would build bongs and other smoking devices from lab equipment. Good times. I've been smoking for 18 years now, and I think it's time I invest in a vaporizer before my lungs fall out (although they're not too bad since I don't smoke tobacco).

And, I make the best pot cookies in the world.

When I moved from San Francisco to Shanghai, I switched from fine northern California weed to Afghani-style hash. Although weed is available here, its not nearly as popular as hash, which can be purchased from just about any young man of a certain Chinese minority persuasion, or at one of their restaurants (they will even solicit you on the street).

When I first got here I had to fashion a pipe out of plastic bottles and tin foil (worked fine!). Later, while I was searching for a surgical equipment store for better building materials, a friend found a funky clothing store that actually had a headshop section! I was quite surprised! So now I have a nice, basic bong.

The local hash is not as strong or cerebral as northern California weed, but it's not bad - and not expensive. Nothing like it for dulling the edge of culture collision.

Starchild, how do you make a bong out of an apple? Somehow I missed that one!
