Substantially better trailer than the first one. Of course that could be every single good scene in the movie. I'll check IMDB once it comes out before I fork over any money, thank you.

Why do you assume that masterminds can't be badasses? Of course they can.

Of course this is all trivial, because Palpy kicks some SERIOUS ass in this movie, forcing more than one Jedi to fall before him.

I never said they couldn't. I'm just saying that the Joker is a mastermind, but certainly not a badass.

As for Palpatine, you can kick all the ass in the world, but if you're cackling like the Wicked Witch of the West while you're doing it you lose the cool needed to be a true badass. Pretty disappointing; it looked like they might turn Palpatine into a true badass until that scene with him tossing **** at Yoda in the Senate Chamber. Rather like Lucas to turn a good character into a charicature, though...

What's wrong with Yoda's name? It's a perfectly reasonable alien name. You think he should be called "Dave" or something? Jar Jar Binks, of course, is a whole other matter. I see nothing wrong with names like Chewbacca, Ackbar, Nien Nunb, or Nass, either. Jabba may be questionable. Sy Snootles is a dumb name, as is Greedo. And Wicket. But I don't see anything wrong with "Yoda".

It's a kiddie name. Look at all that's been done with it. Of course it doesn't help that it's describing a muppet . I don't see Jar-Jar Binks are more kid-like than Yoda is. Greedo is also a chese name as well (thanks!).

the star wars names were never that good. Han Solo. It's like they didn't expect the audience to pick up what kind of character was, so they had to add the solo so people would know he's an independant type of guy.

That would be hillarious, actually. Imagine all five movies so far with every character having mundane European names. Luke Skywalker is John Roberts, and his father (pre-dark side) is Michael, mother Jane. Post dark side, he becomes Hans Schmidt (because we all know Germans are evil!). The great Jedi masters are people like Joe Smith, Serge Levesque and Paolo Marconi - and of course, Yoda is just Dave. Jabba is Tony, Chewbacca is Jorge, etc.

It looks like there's some ripoff of LOTR. Desolate landscapes with huge, erupting volcanos. Hand to hand combat high above flowing lava, etc. Not too original.

The computer imaging is also very apparent, at least in the trailer I downloaded.

Um... ripoff of LOTR? According to the Star Wars novels, Anakin was defeated by Obi-Won on the lava planet, fell into the lava, and that was why the need for the black plate armor stuff. How else did you want them to do it?

And it isn't like LOTR has a monopoly on desolate volcanic areas... besides that one was more black while Mustafar is more red in landscape (ie, more volcanic).

There's been quite a bit of discussion and confusion for a long time about whether there will be six or nine movies total. My current understanding is this will be the last one. Lucas seems to have kept changing his mind and/ or intentionally decieving us on the subject. I've even heard talk of bringing the number to twelve, but not recently. Lucas currently says the reason for the total being six is for the story to ultimately be about Anakin. Some would like the Thrawn novel trilogy by T. Zahn to be made into the third trilogy. Some would set it later with Anakin's grandkids as young adults.

I'd watch that TV series even if it is a little crappy, which I'm not convinced of.

Brent is right. The above link has him saying now this will be the last StarWars film. It also has him comparing parts of the film to the Biblical Hell, the Devil, and a white house.... These comparisons (titanic, the devil, etc) are all his misguided attempts to lure audience members.

But I see your point. All they care about is the money it will bring in, not whether it is good or not.

As for this film, I'll play the wait and see approach. If you guys come back and say it's good, then I'll see it in the theaters.
