Well, I don't think it's a grey area any more. Rule 2 defines conditions for an update and Rule 3 specifies that after these conditions are met and before the update all additional letter guesses are invalid. Word guesses are allowed at any time.

Yeah that's the way I do it. If nothing else greedy guesses after a letter guess that has not yet been confirmed or denied (at that late stage in the game) should be punished.

Weird? The only words that could still have fit were all quite normal.

Um.. surely when Sparrowhawk guessed H it would have got both Hs, and thus he got it then?
