I think the european idea that countries should submit to international law even if it's against their interests (i.e. that the improvement in relations between states is more important than the interests of any one state) is a vast difference from the american ideal that no-one should infringe on their sovereignty.

Indeed I think this ideological difference in how to conduct international affairs is as big as the ideological difference between socialism and capitalism was in the conduct of economic affairs (and hopefully the solution is like it was with that conflict - a merging of both ideals).

Seriously, though. I expect there to be a war, or a series of wars, which will test America to the limit, probably ending its global supremacy for good. Not some fanciful US-EU conflict or anything like that, but perhaps a disastrous invasion of Iran, say, which ends with America finding itself as just one of four great powers.

RomulusvEarth is nore like 150 years away. Maybe we'll have VulcanvEarth 60 years from now.

Russia will split along the Europe- Asia border. Maybe the entire Asian component will join the USA.

War between US and China will be just as unbelievably stupid as between US and Europe. I'd say stupider.

Dude, how can you go isolationist and ignore the rest of today's world? Sounds arrogant to me.

Feh. Everything outside the Americas will collapse into anarchy and America will struggle to survive and maintain some semblance of civilization but eventually rule the world. Maybe part of Europe will join us and spare themselves the anarchy.

China invasion of Taiwan. I read recently that China has been purchasing/manufacturing many amphibious landing craft and short range missiles.

N. Korea will come to a head soon. And of course the middle east will continue to have its problems.

I don't forsee any other major wars.

I predict no wars involving two or more large countries at all unless an economic catastrophie greater than the great depression were to precede it.

There is a reason the soviets and nato never went to war despite seeing eye to eye on practically nothing.
