I forgot to mention that I do have a small fear. I fear that the christians might be right, and consequently, I'm going to hell. .

But a black death with no afterlife doesn't scare me.

Ok...you're EVIL!!! I didn't go to that surfmeet.! (nah, I'm just kidding..but I'm envious that you went). sounds like the Eddie Aikau festival. 50 footers? Damn...sorry, but I chicken-out on 7's.

(Ok, damn....I got new respect for ya....but don't tell Tubes that. He'd have my ass in a sling. )

I'm not afraid of death and can't honestly ever remember being so. That said, my experience tells me that there is a decent chance that I'll experience a (hopefully) short period of panic as I am dying. I've seen other hard assed people go through it. And I imagine that if my death is predicted that there would be a period of adjustment as I let go of my connection to this life and mourned a bit for myself and those who would miss me. But I'm not afraid of a relatively short period of suffering, nor of anything that comes or doesn't come after my life ends.

death does seem weird to me. It's hard to imagine not having a conciousness. It's hard to imagine not existing. I won't even realize I'm not existing.

These are difficult concepts to grasp because we still don't fully understand human conciousness.

And even worse. Not having conciousness but being alive. Or having minimal conciousness and being aware I'm still alive, but unable to move or do communicate. Now that scares me.

one of my co-workers was telling me about "2 grams" or something like that. She said that after all our fluids and gases are expunged. there is still a loss of 2 grams or so that can't be accounted for.

Our soul? I dunno. I believe we all have "souls" but that's getting into religion...and I'll just steer away from that mutha.
