no matey, not at all. here in Australia we have special pools that God created called billabongs.
a billabong is a place where iced cold beer flows up from the great Dwarven Breweries that are to be found in the centre of the earth.
most of the oldest pubs in Australia were built over a billabong, thus cutting down the need to transport the product.
what we had a problem with was the cloth needed to dry the gut glassware that God had waiting for us in special "Heaven Class" cases when the first settlers arrived. Yeah getting good cloth certainly took a while. Here I must admit that various patches were to be found throughout our first century on this island of paradise.
so I may be a tad tough on these programmers and various support and operational staff that are required to take a concept, sit at a computer in an air conditioned office for an unknown number of work hours and write code. nor am I considering that they have the ability to eat good food, get a pay check and play sports, ride bikes, go skiing, sit in pubs, watch the Dodgers, surf the net, play the never to be completed Civ III, assist in aid centres for the handicapped, watch movies on massive screens at multiplexs, even enjoy a nice cup of cocoa.
yeah my expectations of when I go to the shop and pay my money to the bloke at the counter for my next fix of Civ are certainly unreasonable...
fancy expecting it would be ready to play and not need a patch - opps my error.

I find it funny that they moved the date a single day. I'm going to go ahead and take the 17th since I don't think that anyone else has it.
Some one asked about the Tuesday release thing and the answer is that most video games do not have what is called a "Hard Street Date" they can be put up for sale as soon as the product is available. However some games, most recently madden 2006, do.
I work at a best buy and once we have information from the publisher we get a date in our inventory system (which is still subject to change) but it isn't in there yet. My guess is that Take2 isn't giving Firaxis a must deliver by date, or they are flexible with it.
Though I Firaxis prefers pre-Christmas releases it is not alway more profitable in the industry. Usually there are just as many releases in January as there are in November and December. A January release when you know it's coming means that the younger crowd will save Christmas money for a game that they know is right around the corner. Not to mention that Fall winter releases come with a lot of competition as September usually has a lot of releases as well (back to school and all, we all need a reason to avoid doing homework).

i just wish they would confirm this year or next year. honestly, im praying for next year, longer to work on it means a better game.

How long have they been working on the game ? Has it been about the same time as Civilization 3? If it has then we know that there will be problems but most should be miner. I just hope its not something that is put off till a add on which is not right . Patches are ok as all games need at least two or three anyhow .

I think they started Beta like well over a year ago, possibly even two years but I'm not 100%. I believe the project was started at about the same time Conquests was being worked on.

If you're playing with the island setting instead of the continents setting, it's almost always boring. I choose the smallest continents and it's pretty good usually.
