Well , I live in India , and we have five family bathrooms , three on the first floor , and two on the ground floor . On the first fllor , we have one for me and my brother , one for my parents , and one for my grandparents . Then there is a seperate bathroom for domestic staff on the ground floor .

So it is not just an American phenomenon . This design ( one bathroom per bedroom/generation/couple , with one added for good measure or other unique reasons ) is standard for almost all the Indian houses I've seen .

You mean the average person in India has domestic staff??

And ignorant me thought many lived in farming villages....

Oh, and Middle Class people in Latin America also have large houses like the "typical Indian" house.

I grew up in a 3 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom house.

One of my uncles whose's a doctor has 4 houses (beach, Hills, 1 City apartment, I main house).His main house has at least 6 Bedrooms and as many bathrooms.This is NOT typical whatsoever, thought most modern apartments in Panama have 2 full bathrooms.

I live in huge house as well. It's two story, 9 room, 3 bathrooms and 2 bedroom house. We don't need AC, since it's very natural, the air flow. We wanted it to be this way, sure it costed us more than installing new AC but we were after the luxury.

I like my bathrooms so this is my personal bathroom, or as I like to call it, the master bathroom. I'm the only one allowed in it, but my lovers are allowed to join from my lead if we want to have sex in there. I have thought about installing 60" plasma tv's into every corner, so I can see hockey games even if I was bathing or just in the bathroom for fun.

Here is the guest toilet, as you can see one of my happy friends enjoying. This might seem a little weird solution to have many seats next to each other, but it is very practical and fun. My guests love it. Also stone is good material, if someone makes a mess, my servants can just hose the general area and it's clean again.
