Oooh, very good. On his own, he writes great future war shoot-em-up Patton-like stuff. He often teams up with Niven, who's great a world creation (which is Pournelle's weak area). They did "Mote in God's Eye" and other great stuff.

Hmm... Le Guin's communication apparatus- did the Author of Enders Game utilize the same sort of thing for his series, I think I know what you're talking about.

As for comments on LeGuin- don't read her longer pieces- "The Tombs of Atuan" was terrible. Amazingly boring. AT times it read like Lovecraft or Lin Carter, but other than that it was merely bad. I wouldn't want to inflict that piece of trash on anyone.

Her shorter works, though, are a tossup- you might find something you enjoy there.

Krill- hmm.. so far John Brunner's the only one I haven't heard of either. I guess you're just an obscure person then
