From what I just read, this has only just now become popular in 3D graphics -- only because modern video cards are fast enough to compute it in real time (vertex shaders).

No, the problem was it wasn't fast enough to do it in real-time.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I'm actually pretty good t the things that compsci people actually study. I'm just not good at actually using computers or knowing proper syntax etc.

Took me 5 hours to figure out how to link to the right libraries and put them in my path on my compiler.s

But once I'm done with setting **** like that up I can wrock out on ll the math stuff...

You know what would be interesting, is you get a PCI-Express system with a Radeon X850 -- then implement this algorithm using the GPU and have it write the results out to main memory.

I bet you it'd be easily 100x faster than having a general purpose CPU do it.

solaris workstations sshing into a linux box

they're really shitty old workstations, but luckily they're netweorked well enough that they steal each other's processing time if there's nobody else using them (network is about 100 computers), so **** runds rpetty fast overnight.

I'd guess that it's a problem with your ISP. Because we can write long posts. Really long posts. Much longer posts than your can post. So it's not an Apolyton problem. Nope. Not at all. No problem here at all. It's you; it's all you, you, you.

Rotation of the spherical harmonics, indeed! See what happens when you show off how smart you are? The gods get you. So, it's not only an ISP problem but it's also devine intervention. Man, you are up the creek without a paddle. Without the ablity to post either.
