Agreed. And far more than the DoD budget, DHS is out of control like a rabid pitbull on steroids with their budgetary process. The PBS/CPB budget is a secondary question to why should the Federal government fund PBS or arts or anything else which has no reasonably conceivable connection to its enumerated powers? Big Daddy Government shouldn't be the only conceivable funding model for everything under the sun.

David Brooks already does the Newshour, I don't know if he wants to do every PBS show.

Buchanan is far smarter than you give him credit for. He's as much an extremist and ideologue as Bill Press is.

Who's Bill Press?

Buchanan is a borderline fascist, and has at least had some tenuous connection to hate groups in the past. I susppose his opposite would be someone like Bill Moyers, who's a borderline socialist.

Buchanan has plenty of writing chops under his belt, including a syndicated column and speechwriting duties for a President. He also has a Masters Degree in Journalism from Columbia (which I'm sure Carville does not). By far the biggest name on that group. There is a reason that he's been on CNN, MSNBC, and PBS. And, interestingly enough, he's never been on FOXNews... whether that is because of his choosing or their's I'm not sure.

That's easy to address - the local affiliates can join and help fund a separate non-profit or non-profits for production and distribution. A national network doesn't require Federal funding.
