I further think that people who had a character for the first game should have priority to that over people who had it for the second game. Spaced chose another character because his first was already taken last game. Atragon was in the same situation. To my mind, that means their first preference would be for the characters they used in game 1.

That basically describes my situation, Dr. Point just strikes a chord with me. I picked Colony I in GO9 because Dr. Point wasn't available and it seemed like the next best choice available.

I really perfer Dr. Point.

Agreed. Allied Defense is the only rule in Gold that is at all contraversial, but as the last rounds proved, it can be broken up and defeated pretty easily with properly timed attacks and spy usage.
