Any guesses where this is?

The terrain has been somewhat modified for to give all tiles around 50-75% land coverage and water access. Elevation still needs to be smoothed out.

I'd guess Norway, but if the map is aligned like maps usually are (north is up), then the rivers (presumably fjords) are in the wrong direction.

Denmark sounds like a very good bet, though.

Denmark was my very first thought after "ferries" but I also thought I was just being biased since Denmark is one of the only overseas countries I've ever been to. (I remembered islands, and long bridges over sea and stuff)

So anyway I got off my lazy ass and downloaded a map.


Distorted, but it looks kinda like it.

I think the scale may be off, and that the map is a larger detail... you should compare the scale bar and its setting to a view of the Denmark area with at the same scale. And since Google uses satellite images, distorted isn't really close enough, it needs to be practically a 1:1 match.

It looks Denmarkish, but so far nothing has shown it to actually be a bit of Denmark. That and the orientation is wrong, because the scale bar in the Google Maps pic clearly shows that where north is, and it's not in the east.

Yeah, that is it.

I'm not really famialler with Google Maps, I did download it but havn't done anything beyond find my home and my parents home. I live too far south to have detailed scans of where I live, but I could pinpoint the dog kennels at my parents place =) - also nearby is an airport, and it clearly shows the planes on the runways, and also a plane in flight over a nearby river, at least I hope it was in flight...

The Fall of Boothbay

In a shock to the people of Boothbay, it was discovered soon after this report that Dr. Vu himself was a big headed lab mouse in a robotic man-suit. But, as this was not technically illegal, the people were powerless to stop him as Acme Labs continued to expand, even when the expansion turned more...sinister.



The mayor tried to reason with Dr. Vu, or The Brain, as he was now calling himself, but it was to no avail. The Brain arrived at the mayor's mansion under flag of truce, but the negotiations ended abruptly when his flying saucer opened fire and destroyed the mayor's home (not to mention the mayor.)



An immediate counterstrike was launched from the city's airstrip, as the elite parapolice forces attempted to take Acme Labs by force. Without the city's leader, though, planning was somewhat shortsighted, and the invasion ended in the blades of The Brain's windmills.



Incensed, The Brain declared all-out war on the city. The Peninsula Envy Airstrip was destroyed in an airstrike--



--the city's seaport was destroyed by a missile strike from a submarine disguised as one of the bay's friendly whales--



--monorail and highway links to nearby towns were taken out to prevent reinforcments from arriving, or the population from leaving--



--and then, only then, as the city grew hungry without any way to get supplies from the outside, did the ice cream trucks roll out from Acme Labs.



The people had no choice but to eat the heavily drugged sweets, and the entire city fell under control of The Brain. When asked for comment, The Brain replied: "Boothbay is only the beginning. Tomorrow night, Pinky, yes, tomorrow night, we try to take over the world!"
