Thanks for all the replies guys,
I think I might break out CtPII having never tried it before. I've heard the vanilla game wasn't good but the players made it fantastic with their mods. Which mod would you suggest, is ages of man the best?

Yeah it is. More of an expansion than just a mod of existing material.

AoM adds a lot of things to vanilla CTP and changes a whole lot other things. As Maq said, it is more of an expansion.

If you want something less... hmm... "expansive" then the Apolyton Pack is a good mod.

Suffering from ads?

Yes, AoM is more of an expansion. If you're not familiar with CtP2, it's probably not the best thing to start with.

CtP2 + Apolyton Pack + latest Source Code Project build will give you a very enjoyable game to learn, though. The AI isn't really too good at warfare, but you should enjoy the game nonetheless.

Is it worth the time to reinstall and set up AoM, or should I just stick with Civ3 for these last few months?

It's worth it. AoM is very different, and feels like almost a new game to CtP2 fans - for those who played little CtP2, it does feel like a new game. You'll probably like it, and it should last you until Civ4.

aside from the aforementioned carpal tunnel activities........I have been getting much more time in with my artistic endeavor of landscape painting.

Also, after completing doom3, I have been having fun using the God mode cheat to run and gun through the demons of hell with nary a scratch to show for it...

damn that's fun shi*..

AoM appears to focus on the Dark Ages and Middle Ages a bit too much.

Next bit of free time, I'll see about taking a crack at it. Thanks for the response
