How Should U.N. Security Council Votes be Tallied? (Time out:0 days after 28-07-2005, 10:37)
No, I prefer that "perfection" remain in effect.
Yes, I think that a super majority is a better approach.

many of the resolutions on that list were vetoed by the US AND France AND the UK (IE the west in general saw them as unnacceptable). They would be defeated even in a supermajority situation without an absolute US veot. I was referring specifically to resolutions vetoed by the US alone, which it would take some effort to tease out using the site you provided. I will leave it to you to provide specific examples.

its particularly difficult, as the site does not provide the full vote for some items, and fails to list UNSC resolution numbers, making it difficult to fact check.

Yep, you are correct that itīs often difficult.
But on many of these occasions the case is clear,
as the voting figures show only one country voting against the resolution (for example nearly all the resolutions from 1982-1983 show such voting results, i.e. just one vote against [with many of the resolutions vetoed being against apartheid, others being about human rights all around the world and not one being against Israel]).
After a short overview maybe half of the resolutions listed with voting results were vetoed by the USA alone.
So, according to the model where even the USA needs another supporter to veto a resolution, maybe half of the resolutions listed would have been passed.

At least if the figures on the site are right.

How about this - go show me specific resolutions you have in mind, WITH the UNSC resolution number.
