Another FOW run last night, I didn't get a single shard but my pal got FIVE. And we only went up until Restore the Forge! (Then bastards started dropping out and our six man team was pwned by Khobasomething's cronies). We had two prot monks by accident, too. It's actually a miracle that we made it so far, since rushers don't get protected...

I'm not sure why my database keeps getting corrupted. After the first incident the game fixed all errors before reconnecting but here they are again. I suspect the power surge/blackout that occurred yesterday. I was fixing the computers at work today from that.

I was just kidding (even though rumor has it that you like "thieving" ), and your word is good enough. To bring Jamski as witness doesn't do any good anyway, since it would imply, that I'd have to trust him more than you.

General information, my first character is through now. I had her on halt for almost a week in Hell's Precipice, first for the PvP frenzy weekend, and after this for a few dragons I had to slay in EQ2 with my guild.

It was kind of hard to find a group in Hell's Precipice, not many people there, usually only one group gathering and if you don't fit into their class profile, you already lost. I kept trying over 2-3 days without much luck, either I could not find a group or we wiped early on. Yesterday finally I got into the right group. We waited half an hour for monks to show up, without luck, and then took both healer NPCs with us, which was sufficient.

And I found a good, mature guild too, yesterday. It is still small, but I prefer a few good people over droves of kids and leet doods anytime.

Yeah, it was always trickier to find groups on the final missions, and with so many people switching to America it's got worse lately.

On the plus side Anet have realised their mistake I think and will hopefully change the favour system soon.

Our guild matched up with a Korean guild whose team consisted entirely of W/Rs. Too bad we weren't w00tly enough to discover their obvious weaknesses and exploit them. Our Ws need to call.

Im not convinced of this W calling business, I find it a damn sight easier to call with my mes, mostly because I can actually see the whole battle. Thats only in 4vs4, it might be different when youve got to call in a mess of Korean names

Warriors are the best callers, but necro and mesmers are fine if you have a necro or mesmer that is a better player.

I often call when I play W/R, but if I play a different class our necro takes over as he is an equally good caller, and better than some of our warriors.

After about a week of 'hiatus' I went back to this game and the break made me appreicate the game even more. I normally don't take screenies but today I decided to explore areas I haven't completely explored yet so I took along henchies and figured why not fool around with screenies.

This is a Charr (Axe type I think) gasping its last breath after receiving a fatal blow from Stefan while a bag of gold 'pops' out.

You can see Odin charging up on the left and Stefan recently fell a Charr but there's one more. A Shaman is nearby probably trying to heal his comrades. You can see black smoke from my kindled arrow

Europe had favor for some hours yesterday, and I had my first trips to FoW and UW. We didn't get too far because of quitters (damn them!), but what I saw, didn't impress me too much. Mobs hit tad bit harder and drop tad better loot, that's it.

What's the general point of these zones? I keep to hear about ektoplasms or somesuch, although I never saw them drop, let alone won them. I also keep hearing about Fissure armor, what's up with that?

Fissure and Underworld are fun. You can go for the drops, or just to do each quest once for a sense of completion.

For the 'keen' player, there is also an armour crafter in fissure that makes some pretty armour which has 105 ectos and 105 shards as part of the materials required. Hence people sometimes go to UW (for ectos) and Fissure (for shards) for this reason.

Btw it's also fun because you need to optimise your build, and the team need to work together well to succeed. In most of the missions there is no challenge unless you have bad players/droppers.

They are just rare crafting components that drop normally from bad guys.

Yeah I got 4 ectos on a UW run the other day, circa 90 minutes. Most of the party got 0.

We had an eight man run a few days ago, and managed pretty far, whacked things for roughly an hour or two. Got NOTHING. The loot was pathetic. We would have been better off in FOW.
