You don't think that people in Abu Dhabi or Kuwait don't accidentally leave their Diet drinks outside every once in a while?

I've heard when you do that, the diet coke turns into petroleum, ruptures the can, and leaks into the sand, forming huge underground deposits of the stuff.

Diet soda can really screw up your digestion. I was drinking a 2 liter bottle 5 nights a week and my digestion got really screwed up. My wife brought home a magazine article on the subject so I cut out the soda and everything is slowly returning to normal though it's taken years.

I've been drinking products with splenda and it seems to be ok so far.

Diet sodas (and artifical sweeteneers in general) always taste mildly toxic to me.

I've basically drank no sode except diet soda for a year or so. It most definetly does not taste like crap. Diet Coke w/Lime had been my drink of choice and now it's Coke Zero .

It's a matter of conditioning. After years of being a diet coke addict I can't stand the taste of classic coke.

I've never been overweight, but given what you have said, maybe I should just forego all types of soda altogether.

Mountain Dew forever.
Actually not so long ago I discovered there is actually Evil Mountain Dew sold in some parts of the world (Canada?) without caffiene in it. Talk about having my worldview turned upside down. Mountain Dew and Evil Mountain Dew, never woulda thunk it...
(I will weep if there is mountain dew with neither sugar or caffiene)

Aspartame, on the face of it, looks sorta dangerous. It has a methyl esther, which should be easily hydrolyzed in the stomache. which would lead to methanol, which is highly toxic ( it oxidizes to formic acid)

While the doses are very very low, I still would avoid it while I can ( though I don't consume sugar-substitute products usually)

So I take it you don't eat any fruits, since fruit naturally has far more methanol in it that you can get from consuming aspartame.

I saw something real similar to this on the news the other night.

Which makes sense, since when you don't count super models, 98% of the people you see drinking diet soda are over-weight.

I love the people that go to McDonalds and order the double cheeseburger, super sized fries , 2 apple pies, but a diet coke...

In reference to the news items I mentioned, look at it from the other side. Thin people that drink regular soda stay thin, and heavy people that drink diet soda get heavier. That was the point of the story.

and yes, I always chuckle when I see that type of order.
2 big macs, fries, and a diet coke. (supersize that please)

Suffering from ads?

You shave off seven tablespoonful of calories when you drink diet soda, still a significant chunk. Even though it would only help them to gain weight slower, not lose weight.

I actually prefer the taste of diet soda to regular. Regular soda is way too sweet for my tastes.
