Suffering from ads?

Then again CO2 is relatively inert, chemically speaking, and carbon locked into CO2 and held under pressure in molten rock isn't really available to make anything else.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

My question isn't where do they get Carbon - but where do they get hydrogen. I am not really familiar with chemistry of the depths.

Methane?

che - if CO2 is involved, you need to remove the oxygen somehow.

We know there is elemental carbon deep in the planet, or at least a process for generating it -- diamond and graphite deposits demonstrate that much. We also know that hydrogen is available, at least in the form of water -- most magmas have at least some water, so it isn't exactly rare.

I don't know if there is a way to make them react, but I won't discount the possibility.

If you mix carbon and water you'll still get carbon and water.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

But that assumes that carbon and water are the only elements involved. Not everyone thinks in such simple terms, you know.
