What's the problem with you guys? Why can't you just use the solution I and my friends use, making it possible to be unequal numbers of people?
It's easy: If there comes down to only a few people, it goes like this(before it's not relevant anyway):
*There is a mafia kill. By day there's 4 people left.
*Now, if there is only one mafia left, and he is caught, no problem. The villagers win.
*If the mafia is not caught, and the villagers kill an innocent person, there's 3 persons left by night, one which is the mafia.
*Then the mafia will kill one of the remaining persons, and by day there is 2 persons left in the village; one mafia and one villager.
*Of course, there will be a draw by night. There is then three options: 1) The mafia win, 2) The villager win, 3) There is a draw and we're playing heads and tail.
*The usual way to do it where I come from, and the way I think is most fair and best, is that the mafia, who after all is in the minority through the whole game and has a disadvantage, wins. But that is of course up to you, if you choose to use this rule, and not close Sheep out of this game.
