What I meant by CC is that when you send the email and type the address, there is usualy another line where you can put another address (that's called CC for carbon copy - don't ask me why....). So I simply want to you to send the .SAV game to that email address as well as the next player!

I am going to setup an automatic system on that email address which will put all those saves into a web page and you can all download the saves from the web. In fact, that also solves you 350KB email limit problem. BTW, another solution for that limit is to zip the file. That is a compression program, are you familiar with that (you can download it from the net for free). This way the game save is only 27K instead of 300K.

ps. Yes, in PBEM you can contact any human player any time, but the communication is obviously not 'online' - it my take several turns to settle a deal. You send your offer in your turn, the recipient gets it and replies in his turn, may send a counter offer or and so on until you both accept it.

i use zip all the time.

can you put a password in the game? if i remember right you can so after first turn its safe.....

OK, sorry for the delay but we are off and SMAXing. Sent turn to cthol and copied long address. Unfortunately the mail to

was bounced due to an unknown host. I was able to download the faction stuff ok, and I can see the game page, but I can't send mail to root.

Well, it looks like a bumpy start...
First Rockville's email provider problem, then my auto-mailer doesn't receive the emails from outside, and now the third thing: Caselogic just contacted me that he would like to play too!

So, if it is not too late for you, can we restart?

I'm ok re-starting or continuing. I'd rather have all humans than one AI (because a human beating up on another human tends to provoke more outrage than a human beating up on the AI), but I can understand Cthol's point too...

Cthol - that problem must have been because I used a long file name for the save (Cthol of the Borg.zip). I'll try using a short file name next time around...

So someone tell me whether I should play the new game or we should continue with this old one. Count my vote on CaseLogic's inclusion as "Abstain"

I've got the save from Cthol, played my turn and sent it to Edgecrusher.

I asked Caselogic to choose faction and he has not replied to that email yet. I am ready to restart with him, but I do not want to delay the game in case we keep going with this one...
So, I am waiting for his response and also for others to vote on this question.

Hey, how about starting another game with him but also going on with this one? After all it is the turn-around time for the email is what is slow, the game itself does not take too long, so we might as well play and send 2 games each time...

The automatic web page with the saves is getting better although I still had some hickups with filenames. Please put the year number inot the filename and also use the appropriate extension (.zip or .sav depending on whether you compressed it).
So please send the save to xpbem@simbiosys.ca in addition to the next player.

the two games idea is a good one... but...
when we started planning this game with caselogic he wasnt "around" for many days or he didnt check his email or icq (i sent him a message). so it looks like caselogic doesnt use the net often. so the new PBEM game would be a very slow one.
i hope im wrong.

and RV i think the problem wasnt that the name was long, but that the name wasnt written in together. like you wrote = Cthol of the Borg.zip i think it'd(can your write it'd? i think not) have worked if the name was CtholoftheBorg.zip

Well, it is not yet clear, whether we are going to hunt down the usurpers or the other way around, but it is a title...

ProvostB, "usurper hunt pbem" is just an idea for the title. Wanted to come up with something that relates to our game... There are 6 human factions played by real humans and only the usurpers played by the AI. Hence the title - which you can inerpret two ways: usurpers hunting us or we hunting the userpers.

If you have a better idea, please tell us!

I want to apologize. I was on vacation from Sunday to Tuesday night and was unable to play a turn. However, I checked the board Saturday and it kinda looked like the game wasn’t going anywhere for a couple of days so I declined to post a notice. This was a mistake – Sorry. Great! Finally, we get over the first turn!

Just one point not so clear to me:
The last entry on the web page is ProvostB2102.zip

Is this the save before ProvostB's turn? In that case it should be 2101.

Or is it the save after ProvostB's turn ? In that case we are missing a save, which has been sent from Gerfang to ProvostB and the last recorded save should be Rockville2102.zip.

Anyway, I start up another thread named "Usurper Hunt PBEM", so please followup there.
