British meteorologists were at a loss to explain the unusual phenomenon of the past few weeks to a bewildered and concerned public. The appearance of a heretofore unidentified astronomical body early in the day, and its slow but fixed course across the sky to a disappearance in the west later, has baffled Oxford's top astronomers.

"It resembles nothing so much as a slowly-moving red or yellow disc," comments Dr Burbblechuff Tutu, head of Post-Natal Studies at Morose College, Oxford. "We have detected strong emanations of infrared and xray radiation from this heavenly body, and caution all members of the public against going out without adequate protection."

Spectrometers have picked up increased amounts of light, heat, and biome growth during the visible hours of this circling object. Reports of the object closely match a similar report made by London residents during the summer of 1766, known for its celestial disturbances.

Whaa...? Are you claiming a lack of sun in London, Alinestra?! I figure that London must be a veritable desert. No doubt you have to keep an eye out for those pesky rattlesnakes and scorpions. And although the weather in London is very nice at present (or so I'm told) the weather in Durham - that hilltop fortress Mecca of the North - is usually much more Gothic.

Well, currently my yard is 18 inches deep in snow, and there's MORE of the damn stuff falling. I like snow. For a couple of days, moderate amounts, and then a thaw and some nice rain.

Gothic, Alinestra? Interesting adjective. I guess you could describe Vancouver's weather as biblical. I'm thinking of ol' Noah and the Flood.

Actually, I shouldn't complain about living here. It is only the months with "r"s in them that are normally damp. And there are advantages to setting up base on a rainy, nutrient bonus tile. A yummy fungus outbreak occurs reliably in the spring and fall.

But the skiing high up in the mountains has been terrible this year. Misotu and the rest of north eastern North America have stolen our snow.

I know it's not my turn to post, but I thought I had better warn you.

Earlier today I completed the third and final draft of my dissertation. Later today I will print it out and proofread it. Early tomorrow I will take it to the Uni shop to get it bound as per rules of submission. By 3.00pm tomorrow (16th March) I will have handed it in.

If I don't open and send off the MP save game before then, then it's safe to say that the saved game will not go anywhere for about 36 hours or so as I embark on a pub crawl of hitherto unparallelled magnitude and debauchery.

In other words, I probably won't be able to play my turn until Monday.
