He decided he had a claim on the island many centuries after I'd found, explored and settled it. Many centuries after asking my permission to settle a tiny corner of it and accepting my polite refusal. Historical revisionism rules in the Diety universe.

The menu was posted in the OT forum. Briefly - Insalata Caprese; Marinated Baby Lamb Cutlets on a bed of Cos Lettuce and Radicchio with Miniature Roasted Vegetables with Oregano; Homemade Hazelnut and Ricotta Cake served with Vanilla Sugar-flavoured Cream. Pity you couldn't make it, War. I'd've whipped up a Maple Syrup Burger in your national honour.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

One can only imagine the conflict that took place in several Aussie bowels and bathrooms later that night, given the rich and hedonistic cuisine.

Why do I imagine Horse fluffing covers toward his dear, sainted wife?

And why, for that matter, do I imagine Finbar, in great pain and agony, riding the bus to the outskirts of town before letting go with a dainty squeaker, only to excuse himself, though he's completely alone?

Nah...somebody has to show you which cutlery to use...no doubt Finbar had eight different forks and an array of spoons.

I'm guessing you and Hydey would have lifted them, or put them in your pockets, assuming they were party favors.

Well, dammit, Hydey, that's just not right!

Tell you what...Lancer (you know, Horse's buddy?) and I are getting together this Saturday. We'll eat some nearly raw meat and drink some good strong beers. You jump on a plane and meet us. Portland, Oregon.
If you can't make it, we understand. We'll leave a seat empty and put a beer there for you, ok? Guest of honor kind of thing.

I can assure you, there will be no mincing around the living room, Pink Chablis in hand, pinkies extended, as we play a sad game of one upmanship and name dropping! There will be no finger sandwiches, no ambrosia, no abstract art or shocking nude sculpture, unlike the den of horrors I imagine these so called "chosen ones" found themselves in!

And I'm sure you'll walk out of OUR meeting on your own power, unlike Horse, who I hear was discovered, scandalously passed out on Finbar's bed, cuddled among the guest's coats, at only 11 in the evening!

Really, nephew...I thought you had eschewed your father's commie pinko bourgeois ways?

Got spare money?

Ahh a good old fashioend Aussie BBQ,,, how does that old song go,,

"When the summer sun is shining
On Australia's happy land
Around countless fires in strange attire
You see many solemn bands
Of glum Australians watching
Their lunch go up in flames
By the smoke and the smell you can palinly tell
That it's barbie time again.

Chorus
When the steaks are burning fiercely,
and the smoke gets in your eyes,
your snags all taste of fried toothpaste,
and your mouth is full of flies.
Its a national institution,
its Australian through and through,
so come on mate, grab your plate,
lets have a Bar B Q.

The Scotch eat lots of haggis
The French eat snail and frogs
The Greeks go crackers over their mousakis
And the Yankees love hot dogs
The Welshmen loves to have a leek
The Irish love their stew
But you just cant beat the half-cooked meat
At an Aussie Bar B Q

Chorus again

There's a fly stuck in the margarine
The bread has gone rock hard
The kids are fighting and the mozzies are biting
Who forgot the Aeroguard?
Ther's bull ants in the esky
And the beer is running out
And what you saw in mum's coldslaw
You just dont think about

Chorus again

And when the barbie's over
And your homeward bound again
With a queezy tummy in the family dunny
Many lonely hours you'll spend
You may find yourself reflecting
As many often do
Come rain or shine that's the very last time
You'll have a Bar B Q

Chorus again .......... "

Oh, yeah...some English guy who wrote a bunch of plays. Can't recall his name, really. Ben Johnson? Yeah, that's it.

I really can't be bothered. Besides, in the rarified air you and I inhabit, I thought it would be understood. If I start quoting comic books, I'll identify the source...otherwise, I don't think the locals are too concerned.
Heck...I put it in quotes at least...that's a start!

Put an end to popups!

Therefore the question is, does Deity wander around his swimming pool late at night in his dressing gown watching ducks - or is it swans? - taking off into the moonlight?

It's called attribution, Sneak. One day, when you're quoted, you'll understand. Good grief, even the "reply with quote" option in these dang forums acknowledges attribution.
