Well, all things are fine to me but we have to make a choice now. Continue working on the old map system or start the spherical map and it 'area system'.

I personally like the new option because it's exceptionally flexible and also never seen before in the civ-series...

Indeed.

From what I know I think we all agree that the new option is superior, and that it is the one we should use. So let us do just that.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

Would it be possible to make one texture 'fade' into another? Instead of simple colours marking out different areas, there should be a seamless texture fading into other areas slightly at the edges. This would have the effect of looking good while maintaining realism.
It would go well with the idea of the properties of the land changing gradually, ie. fertility etc. go in a 'spectrum' from one land type to the other instead of having clearly separate land types.

That's a great idea Nath. I also hope that we could make some sort of feature. Or otherwise some sort of inteligent textures placing, so that we aste some overlap-textures on the borders of regions.

What do we graphicly want to show?

- Terrain type
- Climate?
- Rivers
- Cities (variable size)
- Roads/rails?
- Irrigation/farms/mines?
- Land improvements?
- Harbors?
- Airbases?
- Armies and non-combat units

- Trade routes and supply routes for non-combat units???
Let me know how you guys want to see the map. Maybe I can draw some stuff. But before that, what style do we like?

- Drawn (like in civ2)
- Photorealistic
- Edited photographic style
- Rendered (3d or at least vectors and stuff)
- Something different

We need to set such things before we can start drawing stuff.

Elmo
