It seems that we're forgetting the Mediterranean culture, which can't be absorbed either by the European nor by the Middle Eastern cultures...

i agree completely. The one that comes to my mind first is the Egytian area, which is neither European nor African...IMHO...but then again, i can only go by what i read and see on TV (never been their personally).

I mean, in the world today there are 7 continents each with their own culture...however, i can see how north and south america have taken their cultures from the Eurasian continent as well as africa. So maybe there is:

Eruopean, Asian, African, Tribal Americas (is that PC?) and Mediteranian/Middle Eastern (I think australia would fit closer to the America's, since their culture was brought with it during the settling era of the continent)

This way each would even be able to have their own historical arcithecture for the buildings:

Castle = European
Manturian Builing= Asian
Roman/Greek Column Building = Middle Eastern/Medditeranean
Incan/Myan Architecture = Tribal America
[Insert the correct arcitecture here] (huts?)= African

As was stated earlier the cultures could very easily be implimented with the arcitecture of the buildings.

I agree with you, Nemo. Your choices have a great deal to say for them; the only thing is, that as the civs move into the modern age, they should gradually become closer to each other culturally. It doesn't matter what country you're in; as long as it's developed, it's got skyscrapers, fast food and consumerism.

Definately. I assume that they will keep it like in Civ II where once you hit philosophy(?) your cities (regardless of what building style you chose) all become red brick, then with the advent of the automobile all of the cities become skyscrapers. I agree that this concept should remain. Because, the later architecture is not so much based upon one's origin, as it is based upon national resources (i.e. money) and the education of their engineers.

yes, someone with a sense of harmony.

PLEASE, if you'll keep the red bricks, revise them so that I don't delay the discovery of Industrialization to avoid that ugly look.

(the delay is a joke, the ugliness is not.)

On the other hand, can a knowledgable individual make comments on the city graphics we've already seen on the screenshots? I presently evaluate them as... well... a mess.

Eh, no. There are two cultures present:

-One that is screwed up by america
-One that is not

Civ II pictured that by giving everyone uniform skyscrapers.

Personally I could care less. Sometimes I fail to recognize the changed look in my cities.

My idea:

ANCIENT AGE
1. Classical Forum (like the screenshots, not the too white temples from civ 2) (for greeks, romans)
2. European Tribes (not that ugly stone houses in the screenshots, just some kind of farms or houses from wood, that kind of things) (germans, english, french, russians, american, viking etc.)
3. Asian Pavillion (like in civ 2, but then in 3D and first very basic) (for the asians off course) (May be a Buddha statue!!?)
4. Middle East Buildings (like in CTP, they are a kind of mosques, but i want more houses around them) (for the persians, egyptians, maybe babylonians and maybe the indians (the taj mahal looks more a middle east building to me then the Forbidden City))
5. Meso-American and African Temples (like the civ 2 monolith but then more and more Mayan and Aztec style) (for the mayans, aztecs and incans and may be zulus)

RENAISSANCE AGE
1. Holy Roman Cathedral (typical Florence skyline when it is a big city, small italian houses for a tiny town)
2. European and Colonist Churches/Cathedrals (typical Paris or London skyline when it is a big city, small churches for a tiny town)
3. Asian Advanced Pavillion (more decorated then the ancient type) (Buddha of gold!!!)
4. Middle East Mosques (more decorated (like they did in CTP))
5. Meso-American and African Temples (like ancient, but then with more gold)

INDUSTIAL AGE
like the screenshots, that brown industrial buildings (NOT THE RED BUILDINGS, I REPEAT, NOT THE RED BUILDINGS)

MODERN AGE
Just flats, not skyscrapers like civ2 (too american)

I hope firaxis also give the units of the different cultures typical clothes.
