Acording to fas.org the Leopard 2 was first 'produced' in 1979 and the M-1 was first 'fielded' in 1980 (dammed if I know the difference between those terms )

As well as the NATO forces in Germany, France had at least one corps based in Northern France that would have been deployed if France chose to enter the war (which is generally considereded to have been very likely).
The Dutch and Belgians also had significant forces based at home that would have entered Germany had war been declared.

I assuming that the Leopard 2 was first produced in 1979, but the M1 first saw action in 1980.

There seems to be a strong case for including both in the scenario, but I need decent graphics for a Leopard 2 in that case. Does anyone know of any units in the style of the ones I already posted that represent a Leopard 2?

Paul, I had a talk with a guy in the OT who was an engineer in the Bundeswher (Sahib is his handle), and he said that Leopard IIs came after M-1s in service.

This talk was a few months ago, so you can take it or leave it.

Put an end to popups!

I figured that that was the case, but now it`s been confirmed for me I can sleep at night once again. Thanks.

And since people seem to be losing interest, I believe another preview is in order:

Despite receiving heavy casualties at the hands of the French at Troyes, the Soviets push on towards Paris. However, can they smash the Allied defence ring in their weakened state?

OK, a couple of questions.

1) What spy planes were being used by NATO and the USSR at this time? (1975)

2) Does the pikeman x2 defence flag work against units with a movement greater than 2?

I think the Americans had the U-2 & SR-71 high altitude recon planes, and the RF-4 Phantom for tactical recon. The Americans also had various AWAC's aircraft (I *think* that the E-2 Hawkeye & E-3 Sentry were both in service, as well as a early version of the RC-135). You may want to check www.fas.org for the exact year these aircraft entered service.

As for the NATO counties, most of them would have operated either the RF-4 or RF-5 Tiger, and I think the French had a recon Mirage.

BTW, I'm honoured that you're using my oil rig graphic

Damn. I had hoped to use it to represent Chobham armour on certain tanks, making them more resistant to attacks by other tanks, but still allowing tanks to have a movement greater than 2.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Grothgar is correct, I do have a rather leisurely work ethic when it comes to making scenarios. However, he has failed to take into account that fact that I have had to return to college for a week and a half to get enough time to start off my second year courses, due to new British government directives, increasing college bureaucracy.

And he is also unaware of the huge differences between the amount of work he is required to do at college and the amount of work I am required to do at college. I have taken the liberty of preparing a small table to illustrate this:

Grothgar`s college: Bugger all work
My college: ****-loads of work

how closely do you plan on keeping the events (at least the early ones) to the book written by Tom Clancy?

H tower this is not based on tom clancys book. for starters this is set in 1975 not 1984 when red storm rising was done. this is just a work of fiction

Ok, well...........
US spy planes, U-2 and SR-71 BlackBird.
I believe the B-2 Spirit was completed in the early 80's but didn't see action until Gulf War.
I thought the F-16 was built until early-mid 80's?
If so are you goig to have it available at the beginning or the scenario?

As Grothgar pointed out (slightly rudely, in my opinion), this scenario isn`t based on the Tom Clancy book (I just chose the name because I thought it sounded good), and infact owes more of it`s inspiration to Red Alert 2 than to anything else. It`s an odd scenario in some respects; it mixes reality with a dose of RA2 style, so that NATO is represented, but only as a kind of figurehead, and the NATO forces operate under the term "Allies". The 1970`s setting owes itself to RA2 as well, since I believe that the 1970`s would have been the least likely time the Soviets would have attacked, had they chosen to.

Hail to this glorious Scenario!!
The screenshots look so amazing!!!!

I'm offering my help in german citynames, because I saw, that you named one city "Nuremburg", but the correct form would be Nuernberg or Nuremberg in english (I know that, because I live in that city )

And the correct name of Liepzig would be Leipzig!!

Keep on working on this scenario!! The Screenshots look so fine!
