Hey guys, I'm back! Well at least Alan is back, the former first advisor of the Cult - knowhow2 seems to be as dead as the rest of the faction (or is he? )
In case you guys don't remeber my apology the last time - sorry again. I guess my departure to vacation probably cost a few weeks of playing time but you know - sh*t happens.
I just got the time to catch up with some of the events and I must say that I'm rather suprised that the Morganites went out the way they did (sorry Walt). Anyway, Good Luck to both Tench and cbn.
Btw, my apology to Randy for getting stuck with a lousy situation. I had good intentions doing what I did but sometimes good intentions doesn't always become what they were intented to do. You now how it is.
Some kid would probably read in a history book some years from now (wonder under which winning faction?) that the one responsible to the Cult defeat were a guy named knowhow2.

this is cbn but I could not find my old password so it was easier to create a new identity. I moved so the feature that sends you your password was no use. I figured it was not worth my time to try to bother an admin so I could maintain my old identity.
Anyway, turns will still reach me at sharris41@hotmail.com and I should have the turns moving in this game by tomorow at the latest. Sorry for the delay.

Action News
Foreman cbn has decreed that henceforth he will be known as foreman Flubber. There is speculation that this name was adopted to denote the manner in which the foreman "flubbed" this game with his premature attempt to attack the GAIANS. However, sources indicate that it is a reference to the fictitious resilent substance denoted in the Old Earth "Disney movies" and is an indication that the foreman intends to bounce back to even greater heights.

As I told Stephen already, I'll be holding the turn for a while. It's weird, I have to remind myself again, "It's just a game. Just ... a ... game ..." After what happened in Manhattan today, I don't know if I'll ever again roleplay a war lightheartedly.
Don't forget to say a few prayers for the lost and grieving, everyone.

(I already e-mailed this to Stephen, but just for the record, I'll post it here as well.)
Today is our national day of mourning. Thank God I know of no one personally whom I have to mourn over, even though I have lots of friends in the NYC area. But I'm almost positive that friends of friends are among the casualties. So after work today, I'll be headed home, then to a memorial service in the evening.
After that, I will resume AXT042. The time for mourning is now, but it need not last forever. As King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything under the sun. We will get back with our lives, and hell will freeze over before we let some fanatical terrorists dictate how we should live or feel.
The only tough thing for me will be trying to convince myself that SMACx is just a game. The game engine models warfare, atrocities, dying citizens, and other things that now seem to hit too close to home. But maybe if I can convince myself that SMACx is nothing more than an overly complex version of Chess, I can put things in the right perspective.
One thing about SMACx is that, like Survivor, there can be only one winner (excluding co-op victories). Real life does not have to be that way. In fact, in a new global economy, everyone wins. And everyone loses when cowards attack and remain faceless. At least in SMACx (and other warfare and empire-oriented games), your enemies have a face, an identity. You know who attacks you, and even if you don't know where your attacker is, you will eventually. In the post-modern era we live in today, the enemy isn't as recognizable. And that's a shame.
OK, that's my two cents for now. Everyone take care, and don't forget to pray that the cycle of violence in the real world can come to a quick end!
(By the way, America is now pissed beyond measure. I sure don't see much evidence of "pacifist drones" anywhere here! Nor do I think real fundamentalists would have as much of a chance in battle as they do in Civ or SMAC!)

2230 to the gaians
Sources at channel 10 have learned that the foreman has entered truce talks with Gaians. Ministry of Defence sources indicate that the Drones are willing to reach a truce but that they could not honourably accept the truce in these talks. A large contingent of Gaian mindworms had landed on Drone soil and the military viewed this as too large a risk to allow.
In a public statement the foreman was quoted as saying " we are always willing to consider a cease fire will not enter into one while being invaded. WE will always repell invaders and then talk peace.
