Yes, I will be around this weekend. Barono will not be available at all this weekend, so if we can find others, I have no problem trying to start 45-60 minutes earlier on Friday. I know that would help. AND even better, our Saturday tee time isn't until 8:08 so I don't have to wake up at 5:30.

For those of you that aren't familiarly with my routine, On Fridays, I play from Ming's house, so icq's should be directed there. On Saturdays, I'm at home.

That does help. Seeing as the site suggests UK time is GMT-3, this means I'm 3 hours ahead of you guys. I probably wont be around till 8 CST (if the above analysis is correct), it is Friday night, after all.

A few questions for any regulars:

How many hours do you play for?
What modifiers are used as compared to the SP game?
Also, if the same players play a lot why doesn't the host save games so they can be finished?

DrSpike: we usually play for 5 or 6 hours on weekend nights. We play deity, raging hordes, no city bribe and no tech trading. We play 2x production, with normal movement. Your final question has no good answer.

And while I was typing, I noticed bird answered most of them.
Same answers. We do play on small rocks to encourage conflict.
No alliances.

We normally play "RAH" rules, (don't ask, it's a source of continual aggravation)

For why more are not continued, there are a lot of reasons, but the two main reasons are.

1. While we usually play with 12 or so different players and the occasional newbie, We like to limit our games to 4 players so the turns don't take forever. It's usually not the same four every week.

2. (PRIMARY reason) if you play for 5-6 hours with only 4 people, you can usually get near A.D. By then, either one person is far out in front, or one person is getting his butt kicked. The only games everyone wants to continue is when they're ahead or it's real close. This doesn't happen much. We have continued some games, but very very few games ever get to nukes, and that usually finishes them. Most of the games that I've been in that were continued were those that I was behind and agreed to continue.

ok some bad news guyz.... i am out indefinitely.... went home yesterday and touched my computer only to get the blue screen of death...... rebooted same problems........ reformatted five times....still getting errors no matter what program i use

i think my hard drive is fried.....so i am going to do a dos c drive reformat.... and try to load a different OS and see if this makes a difference.......

however i cant' do this until Monday at the ealiest so i am without any internet or gaming ability...... (using a work puter right now)

So go have fun while i decide if the time has come to just upgrade a new sound card, video card and processor....

Yeah that all makes sense. Although I would have thought that 2nd and 3rd would often have some success in a tacit alliance against the dominant player. Anyway, guess I shouldn't question not saving as I'll probably be the player getting his ass handed to him.

Playing for 5-6 hours when I'm starting at 10-11 UK time might be problematic though, since though I'm a night owl it might mean playing till 5am for me. Anyway I'll try it tonight and see how it goes if you have a place. Do you play weekend afternoons at all?

Also relevant is my pesky 2 hour disconnect (no broadband for me until next July Probably seems archaic to you lot. Perhaps I can reconnect when it isn't my turn without disrupting things?

ah, bollocks, the time diff is 5 hours, so you will play 1am-7am my time, which isn't going to work for me. If you ever play from 4pm (CST) on Saturdays or Sundays (which is 9pm onwards for me) I'm still interested in playing.

Good game last night. I wouldn't mind continuing that one. Now that ColdWizard got Mike's, he's probably ready to make a move on the powergraph and get back up there. It appears rah has a tech advantage, but I don't know how much. Berz has a big pop lead, but will he have to do some scurrying once someone gets RR? I'm a few turns away from a second round of celebrating, and my capital will be enormous.

crappy that i misssed you guyz this weekend i wont' get my puter back until monday at the earliest....even then i won't know exactly whats wrong or how much its going to cost me....if anything gr........

War4ever... I hope you weren't looking for me last night.. I didn't get home from work until after 8:30... bummer. It's been a real pain this week and work, but I'm looking at a 4 day weekend, so that should revitalize me

well aside from the map sucking that was fun last night.... i didn't realize that all of us were doing so poorly until the end

I won't be arouind tonite..... going to a hockey game with my cousin and some friends........ don't expect to be home too early

No go for Sunday night either as i am having the Canadian version of something to be thankfull for...... however i will be around monday or tuesday.......
