This is a bit frustrating - so lets try and do a bit of detective work - should be straight forward....... 02/10/01 9:57 pm I received my turn 5 from whoever I receive my turn from - now whoever receives there turn from me - did U receive it shortly after 10:30pm (GMT +1) on the same day??

Well it all seems pretty straight forward to me - Blackice sent turn 5 to Dukefuzz, unfortunately Dukefuzz did not receive it SO Blackice needs to resend turn 5 to dukefuzz@civleague.com - there problem solved.... do I get a prize?

No the game is not rediculous, Kambei withdrawed from all of his games and PN was on a bussiness trip.
I have been searching for replacements for him for all of his games.

Nimrod (ericmusser1112@yahoo.com) accepted to permanently replace him a couple of days ago.

I've found a few slow starts in other games before also Dattler. But once reliable players fill all the positions the games always move along at a steady rate

I often wonder, if the same people that complain and moan about PBEM games, also congratulate the likes of Keygen into all the effort that goes into making these things work.... Having organised my first PBEM, I fully appreciate the work Keygen has put into this, and the many other games.... - it is pretty easy to sit back and spit out your dummy when you don't receive a turn, but understand we are all here to have fun, if it ain't fun for you, there will be someone ready to fill any vacant slots I am sure

i critisize players who are not able (willing?) to play their turns in time or do not give a notice before offline times. all players here agreed to the 24h rule. i do not feel like loaning back and i play my truns in time.
i will not retreat in face of unreliability and ignorance, Gavrushka.
if complaints about the game speed are not allowed how should it improve?

Dattler, agreed, I criticise games too, - and the acidic response was not a personal attack on you. I criticised what was going on in this game, but constructively, and attempted to help put it right.... I never criticise the game itself.. I am sure you can appreciate when things go wrong, the game creator/moderator works very hard to put it right, I rememeber Keygen has been very active in keeping people informed, and encouraging us all - And I am sure your earlier comments were actually not directed at Keygens game, but at the speed of one or two of the players...

i would like to suggest :

if we cannot notice any turn movement over 36h, the player who send the last turn AND the moderator(supervisor) can next (ask to next) the player out of order.

the following player should naturally play the first arriving turn.

this will work much better, if anyone gives notice about missing turns.


i guess this was tried often. i donot see why we do have a time rule, but this rule is never used. i know about our will to give everybody the chance for a good start. 36 ours should be enough. after one week the chance will not have improoved.

there is no notice of our new fellow Mikaveli. i sent the turn to him (and our moderator) as i were asked to do by Keygen. i vote for strikt nexting or turning to AI to sort out unreliable players. also we can have a view at the postings on this thread who is really interested in the game. or should we quit it and start a new?

Mikaveli sent me turn 6 on the 21/10 - I have written asking him about turn 7 - lets see if he responds?? But I think if no repsonse in 6 hours then keygen nexts last turn he received - It is difficult to enjoy a game that starts like this, but as Dukefuzz says, if we get the right players, and remove the slower ones, then this game will be a good one..

This game is indeed too slow...

Some of you will know that my free time is relatively limited.

And I am currently involved in 13 CTP & 5 SMAC games so I might not notice some times whether a game has stucked.

Therefore I would suggest that you send an email as well to both the supervisor (me) and the moderator (PN) if something goes wrong apart from posting in the thread.

So where the hell is PN?

Those of you grumbling about turn rate should note the following:

1. Right at the beginnning of this thread/game it was agreed that there would be no nexting until turn 10. So all I can do is remind people if it's a few days before I get a turn.
   
2. I suggested that we should next after turn 6, s'funny then that this is where we are stuck right now. Don't say I didn't tell you so.
   
3. Even if we were at turn 10, I cannot next people OR REMIND THEM if I don't get copies of the turn. The turn copies in my Inbox are my 'triggers' to set off reminders. I don't have time to check all the Apolyton threads to see if somebody took their turn. Why should I? You are all supposed to copy me on turns.

As far as my role as moderator goes, my 'inbox' status is:

• On 24-Oct-2001 Michael mandrews72@yahoo.com told me that he had taken turn 6. This was when I chased him because he appeared not to have taken his turn sent to him on 21-Oct-2001. He is new to CivCTP and did not know that he had to send me a copy, but he replied that he did take the turn.
  
• Since then I haven't had any copies of turns, so the last turn I have is Dattler's turn 6 of 20-Oct-2001.

Well, it would be nice to wait in this early stage but not forever

2-3 days is enough in this stage but more than that is too much for my and I guess everybody's stomach

If Mikaveli didn't know that he should send the turn to the moderator then that is probably my fault cause I might had forgot to mentioned to him, not sure though.

It is mandatory that everyone is sending turns to the moderator. I personaly know that the only efficient way for the moderator to track the turns is if he receives every turn from all the participants. It is very difficult some time due to the reason that many player don't post always in the thread and the slow speed of Apolyton for a moderator to track what's going on from the threads. Please don't forget to send turns to the moderator otherwise he will be forced to next you as well

Finally as I am the first in the play order and haven't received turn 7 yet it is obvious that the game has stucked in the previous turn, somewhere between Gav, Ice and Fuzz.

Blackice, have you received turn 6 from Gav?
