I'm getting anxious!

In some of the new screenshoots the French ruler is called Joan d'Arc

This is plain stupid, it must be either Joan of Arc (English) or Jeanne d'Arc (French).

Looking forward to the French civ-of-the-week to see what they decided on.

Persia... Remove this text

May I humbly suggest, ixnay, that you flip-flop your two Xerxes images?

You can see the sky in the background of your current #2, which usually indicates a more ancient time.

Also, his attire is characteristic of the Achaemenid period, the 1st dynasty. (Looks like ancient Hammurabi, too)

Additionally, i think your current #1 is an attempt to represent a Parthian or Sassanid monarch. Those came later. Anyhow, I think it's the pre-Muslim, post-Greek Persian attire, and should be second.

My hypothesis is that industrial Xerxes will either look like a Muslim or a Victorian, and modern X will be in a suit like everyone else.

I think that the Ancient and Middle Age Hammaurbies (no clue how to speel) should be switched. The Middle Age one is much more simply dressed than the Ancient one.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I disagree. The current ancient Hammurabi is decked out in clothing reminiscent of the type of garments worn by monarchs of the Babylonian Empire. The current renaissance Hammurabi, however, appears to be dressed like a medieval Shah. I wouldn't call it more simply dressed. The second picture is blurry enough anyway. The only real difference is the size of the hats.

Here's a better modern Catherine, along with a better industrial Liz, industrial Joan (colours are more vivid) and modern Tokugawa:

ixnay37, great work!

btw, are you sure that two non-modern pictures of Mao should not be Ancient and Renaissance, rather than Renaissance and Industrial, respectively?

I"m pretty sure I got the Maos right - the renaissance one because of (what else) the funny hat, and the industrial one looks more modernized than that. I could be wrong, but...

I don't know anything on this myself.

I don't think that's a tie. First, a tie and toga would look stupid. Second, the "tie" is the color of his Medieval toga. That would seem to indicate that he has some of the previous age left in him.

Does anyone else besides me disagree with Liz's outfit? English culture today wasn't based completely on Roman culture. It's more German.

But historically, britain was ruled by Rome in ancient times (well, for a part of ancient times), and modern English isa fairly equal blend of Germanic and Latin sources.
