I agree with you. I would also add that on a couple of occassions when I could be bothered to do searches to check on arguments advanced by the "argue by amount of stuff dumped" crowd, I was able to find some nice facutal confirmation of holes in their arguments which I had argued for from horse sense and logic.

It's not a problem, Navy.
Everyone knows MarkL is full of it, and we can prove it simply:
MarkL, show any ONE post where I told someone to Suck anybody's (not just OBL'S) member.
You can't because it never happened, just like all the rest of your "facts" 
Back on point, Navy, I really don't give a rat's ass about about this.
The kiddies have their fun, but in the real world, they have a hard time coping with the truths of the world, which they vehemetly denouce here.
Our USA hating buddy is a good example.
Typical post by him screams that the USA has no "guts" because it hasn't committed ground forces in a major way.
Having been under fire twice, I find it laughable that a child sitting safly in Holland dares to question other's moral fibre.
Also, this aversion to "mixing it up", feeling that genuine anger (and in my first post in this thread, it was indeed genuine) that leads to profanity equates to maturity level is childishness in the extreme.
See what the langauge is like in the real world, my young, and extremly un-enlightened friend.
Whatever I posted is mild by comparison.

Well, there needs to be a good mix of both.
You can come on here and spout all the opinion you want, but if you can't back it up with anything to prove why it's right, than the argument has flaws that can easily be shot through, no matter what side of what argument it is for. There has to be some fact to back up opinion.
Generally I think there are some people who tend to just flood you with knowledge, sometimes it pertains to the debate at hand, and sometimes it doesn't. This can work to overwhelm your opponent with stuff he doesn't know enough about to rebut, but it also takes away from the argument and begins changing the focus to God knows what.
I think MtG does this every once in a while, and he can because he knows....EVERYTHING....but it's not always good for the argument, and I often can't tell what side he (or whoever does it) is supporting.

Hey, I agree with you Orange, but there is nothing more dull than someone regurgitating what he just read in extremists weekly or cnn as the basis of their argument. Yes, we all need to be informed and speak with some valid basis of thought, but if I wanted to read the news or get an "experts" (so many pretend experts around here !) opinion, I wouldnt come here at all.
I just search for opinions that are genuine and real. Long speeches and useless stats and facts mean very little to me. Anyone can look up a web site and pull some stat off and use it, but geez, whats the point?
