Spain Plunges into Anarchy, French Expeditionary Force departs for Spain

War Ends! Austro-German Alliance Declared!

Emperor Franz Josef annouced today to a cheering crowd in Salzburg that their city was now liberated, following the conclusion of an alliance with the newly formed German Empire. The city was returned to Austrian control in exchange for formally ceding Bohemia, Moravia, and Rumania to Germany. Austria also renounced all claims to lands now occupied by the German Empire. The Emperor went on to explain that while the terms may seem one sided, that the new arrangement benefits all nations involved. Hostility toward Germany was notably absent in Salzburg, as the residents say the German Army did not treat them harshly, and much kinship is felt toward their cousins.

Italian Front Update

Italian raiders that penetrated Austrian territory have been handily dealt with by superior Austrian forces, who suffered few casualties. The imperiled city of Venice has been saved once again by Austria, as her army and navy coordinated to finish off enemy forces approaching the city. The new alliance with Germany has prompted some to speculate over the possibility of the ended of hostilities between Austria and Italy. But others say that with her northern frontier secure, Austria will only prosecute this war more vigorously

Germany forms alliances!
An alliance was formed with Austria along with the terrain transfer, another alliance is rumoured to be discussed by Germany and Russia.
In protest of this turn in german politics however, Italy have broken thier alliance with Germany.
Another alliance was formed with Spain, Germany and Spain is as of now unified in a mutual defence pact.
Any nation trying to attack Spain will have to face the threat of a german invassion...

Emperor Martin III has given Berlin the finger about the Spanish issue.

"Spain is in a state of anarchy and whatever faction Germany has contacted is by far no legitimate government to restore order to the iberian peninsula. France would also like to invite Britain to aid in the restoration of order to the iberian peninsula in a cooperated venture to further the goodwill between Paris and London to help heal the wounds of the Pensinsular Wars of old."

Whichever faction Berlin has been in contact with is irrelevant, what was agreed upon was agreed upon.
The German ultimatum remains:
ANY foreign meddling on the iberian peninsula will result in a war declaration from Germany.
Germany will not participate in this conflict and neither will any other nation.
We would also like to remind our french neighbors that while the German army surely could tackle any other army in europe alone, it also has powerfull allies...
Germany will not tolerate any foreing presence in Spain or the Iberian peninsula as a whole!
