Due to some much needed shifting in priorities I need to drop from all PBEM games. I am sorry for any inconvienience and will continue to play until replacements are found (hopefully quickly).

Guys, the last turn we were playing was 29.
So, who has turn 29 in his mailbox and who hasn't?

I don't remember what the last turn I played was - my PC has survived a crash.
I will not be able to play in the period 27.01.02 - 3.02.02.

So could have turn 29 been lost somewhere between Hunter and Jon? Maybe with the short absence of Jon the turn got lost and is hanging out in Jon's mailbox right now?
Ice?

I'll e-mail Pat Russel and the games moderator and supervisor I guess. |
Works for me. I everyone agrees then please start sending my turns to Seige.
Seige - post your email.

Ice, I send turns to Vitolg and not to John.
John receives turns from Hunter.
From the thread history I read that Sid had played and send turn 29 to Hunter and John haven't received turn 29 yet.
So I conclude that the turn has stucked on Hunter.
Do you want me to resend turn 29 to Vitolg?
If you have Hunter's turn I would recommend to next him and if not ask for a resend from Sid.

What is this with newer players?
Approximately 50-75% of players (mostly new ones) drop off within a year of playing in all or some of their games from lost of interest.
That produces severe problems in both sort and long run with small or long delays, changes of strategies, agreements, policies and status so many times that can't dermine a steady optimization or might even lose the game because of that.
Even if I beat a civilization I won't know who I accually beated. You or the previous players that played the specific civ from time to time or just all?
Why do some people have to **** up a game so easily?
Don't I get frustrated when the game stucks?
But I HAVE NEVER DROPPED A GAME because of that!!!
Accually I have never dropped any of my games for any reason...

Sorry Keygen but i have to answer that.
I AM A SERIOUS PLAYER. I love this game, i 've been playing for a while, in solo, in multi with friends, on the web, and even in Apolyton ( i had another pseudo, "tronn", two years ago, but i had to lose it because i couldn't remember my password ).
I HATE TO LEAVE A GAME. Especially when we've just started, like "Let there be rock". I almost feel love for the civ i lead.
I PLAY MY TURNS FAST. Maybe two or three hours after receiving my turn, i play and send it to next player. I know some players who could testify that i play really fast. Just ask on the " World Story" thread.
LET THERE BE ROCK IS UNPLAYABLE AND BRING ME NO PLEASURE.
One turn a month !!! Yes, you've heard me...one turn a month. Because of who ? I don't know. What's the moderator doing ? nothing ( sorry Blackice ). I'm done, done ! And i have the same problem with "World Story". Because of some #ù^$ù][{# players, my pleasure is ruined. I wait, wait, and wait again with no turn in my mailbox. The 24 hours rule is not applied, slow players are not nexted and everybody seems happy with it.
You know what ? i will contact some friends of mine and play this game by email with them. In a private circle. I thinks this is the solution.
CONCLUSION : I'm sorry guys, but apolyton games suck !!!

Siderakis, I understand your frustration, we all feel it.... I am sure from the games that you moderate, you will realise it is a thankless and difficult job.... And so Positive constructive criticism and helpful suggestions are probably the way forward.. I realise there are a few younger players now, and they often have shorter fuses, and less patience, but once slow players are removed from the games, you do find that the games become playable... In each and every game I am in there has been one player who has spolit it for the rest of the players, now one by one they are being removed, and the true team gamers remain.. Unfortunately what also happens is that one or two of the less committed players also leave, due to the slow turn rate.. I will take any Vacant Position in this game, OR I will force out a slower player if the moderator would like..

I received turn 29. I didn't play it. It is still on my hard disk. If i was still in the game, i would had play it and sent it already. That's because i am a FAST PLAYER.
Anyway, leaving this game is not a reason to block it. And for respect for you all, i will "next" myself and send the turn to hunter right now. I will do this until you find a sub.
See you guys.
Turn 29 to Hunter. |
Siderakis your attitude is counterproductive in the extreme, and unfortunately moderators are always concerned as much as players that take this attitude, as ones that simply disappear - This is a team game, and unfortunately things can go wrong, the problem there WAS in this game has been identified and resolved, now the less committed players take such drastic actions as you are taking, how about you take a middle road - I will sub for you (as Blackice has already done) see if the game gets moving then take it from there?? I UNDERSTAND your frustration, I been in PBEM a long time, not as long as some, but recognise that games will always pick back up. It always seems to be that the younger players drop out, and the more committed players take their place... It's a shame, but I guess it is the way of things.
