meanwhile, yes, the order of threads in the forum display pages was incorrect, and i'm not sure this cant be fixed with any code changes. the post order in threads though worked well though

Whazza matter, I thought you ran Linux?
Linux never has problems.

Why did you need to reboot? I've had WinXP running for longer than that at one point, and I do heavy gaming and whatnot on it.

did that winxp run 50 sites with millions of pageviews to serve and several gigabytes of data to manage on an sql server?

btw, can you explain to me what the win2000 disk managment utility was doing for 30 minutes when it said it was "formating" my drive only to stop telling me that the allocation unit size was too small?

No, but it did more:
It ran 50 games with millions of different frames to render and much more hardware intense activity. Web serving is fairly easy to get stable and bug free.

And my computer is also a Web server (Apache w/ PHP), FTP server, and runs MySQL all the time as well.

Probably re-arranging the files on your drive so as to get the most accurate size readout?

You must have one slowass hard disk to have it do that for 30 mins. Either that or operator error somewhere.

Markos,

Don't mind Glonkie there. He has absolutely no real experience with IT, So he has no idea about preventive maintenance.

Glonkie,

Thanks for the continual amusement

Sarcasm.

Oh, entirely.
This thread has just so much to do with IT!

Like how Linux needs to be rebooted after 30 days of serving frickin' webpages.

I do know that my computer was doing more intensive things for longer without a need to reboot.

And instead of dealing with that issue, you once again brush it off with a personal affront to me while thanking me for the amusement, when the amusement here is not coming from me, but from some washed out disgruntled IT worker who always uses the "cool-glasses" post icon.

BTW, as an added bonus: You are aware that preventive maintenance would mean nothing was wrong with the server when he rebooted, right?
You're the IT man and you don't even know what you're saying.

Depends how many I want.
And that shouldn't have anything to do with it, because it's executing the same queries over and over again.
