I am sorry guys... but after four years of playing SMAC I have totally hit the wall. While I keep hoping to summon up some enthusiasm for the game it just isn't happening.

So I suggest getting a replacement for me.

I am pretty close to giving up on this game myself due to the long delays.


perhaps 7 player games are just too much. I plan to stay in for now but I hope we can all commit to turning it around a little quicker. I just find that I have no memory or interest for a game I see once every fourteen days.

Well I liked this one - and looking back a bit, it does not seem to have been consistently slow. Actually it has been pretty fast at times. But if nobody else is willing to play on...

NorthSwordsman ( swordman@tc3net.com ) will replace RedFred in this game.

So Qantaga, as I believe the turn is with you, can you send to NS (and redFred - if you read this, could you send your password to NS?)

However, NS will be unable to post turns at 'Poly, as they banned him for protesting their "We kill kittens" banner ads of a couple of months ago. (However, I note that in response they changed the ads to read "We love kittens - honestly")

I am still trying to find a sub for my five weeks' absence

I have heard from Qantaga (who is on the road and finding it difficult to load 'Poly).

He has resent the current turn to NorthSwordsman who hopefully has gotten the password from RedFred, so we should be resuming imminently

'Course NS can't posr either, so I guess it's "watch this space" to see who pops up from time to time with a move.

According to Qantaga the turn is not with him. I am passing along his comments on this game ( he is unable to access poly but is still playing turns)

"RP2 is not with me. I originally sent the turn to RedFred long ago. It
is my
understanding that NorthSwordsman is taking over RedFred's position in

sent the latest RP2 turn to NS last week. The last I heard NS was still
waiting on the password from RedFred, but you may want to post or check

Does anyone know redfreds email so we can contact him to ask him to pass the password on to Northswordsman ?? Alternately, did we have a moderator in this game. I looked back and have NOT retained the game setup email nor could I easily find the original game thread

I don't know if redfred ever sent on the password to Northswordsman and even if he has, I know that Northswordsman's wife has had a series of critical head surgeries over the past 2 weeks so he has had a lot more important stuff on the go
