quote: You're a girl, paiktis? I didn't know that. |
No, last time I checked!
quote: If you're not, don't you mean she was bisexual? |
As it turned out.
quote: Just curiosity, but did this episode of reality soap opera happened in Portugal, Greece, or other country? |
In Belgium. And it was more like 'Nightmare on Elm Street' after a while
quote: And the nostalic word I presume you're talking about is...
Saudade! |
Hmmm, I don't think it's that. It's a word that describes the broad category of these songs.
quote: Obrigado is "thank you". |
Yup and IIRC it's different when a man or a woman says it. Obrigado for men and Obrigada? for women. It means someting like "I am obliged to you" I think.
Drekkus,
quote: Paiktis: you mean 'fado', really melancholistic (sp?) songs. |
I am 99% sure that's it! And it is pronounced like "fathoo" right?
quote: Portugues is about the coolest sounding language in the world. When Romario and Ronaldo played footbal in Holland they had the best accents, really smooth. |
It sounded a bit like an eastern european language to me...! (like russian for example!). And I'm not the only one to have said that!

BTW, the portueguese guitars in these songs are mesmerizing. Distictive from the spanish ones and the language complements them perfectly! I had the chance to listen to them live.
And there are university bands that play them on festivities etc as I have heard. Keeping up the tradition in a way.
