Rotten II stared sadly at one of the few surviving portraits of his imfamous ancestor, wondering how he would handle the current crisis. Mass executions of scientists, probably. Nevertheless, the end of the Pax Rotten had been disasterous for Civland, and that was a rather charitable assessment.

Rotten inhaled new world tobacco. This new import had recently become the rage amoung the wealthy, and with things as they were Rotten was an enthusiastic user. He frowned as he looked over the reports from advisors. Not enough science funds, Rottenopolis is rioting, their military outnumbers us, Rome has the Rifleman. Bad news, bad news, bad news. There was a hill to climb.

1520: Rotten puts Scientists back to work (20%) an odd move considering his ancestor's disdain for Physics. Stop-gap measures were implemented to control rioting in formerly Greek territory.

Failed offensives at Selucia and Eburam. In both cases, the knights withdraw faced with untenable situations.

Bloody fighting at Pisae. Two Roman Legions and a Longbow unit destroyed with minimal loss.

1525: Four Legions die at Pisae, at the expense of a single knight unit. Whole fields are stained red to mark the senseless sacrifices.

Thermophylae revolts, returning to Greece.

Rotten's tobacco habit doubles.

1530: Brutal fighting at Pisae. Four Legions and a Cavalry (!) unit are defeated with minimal loss.

1535: The battle around Pisae has become the stuff of legend. In a final insane push the Romans sacrifice two more legions and a longbow unit on the altar of war. Dismayed by the carnage, Caeser accepts peace talks, paying a tribute of 31 gold.

Pisae renamed Civblood to commerate the battles there.

1540: A general shift to peacetime economy.

New Frankfurt overthrows the Germans and joins Civland!

1545: Civblood is garrisoned, perhaps for future conflict. (Note to others: garrisoning conquered cities prevents "flipping." Losing Corinith really broke my heart.

1550: Knights move against Greece to avenge the vile assualt of this decadent "culture."

1555: Seige laid on Thermophylae.

Military Tradition discovered. Rotten bitterly suggests that the knowledge be put in an envelope and mailed back a hundred years or so.

1560: Thermophylae recaptured. What Rotten calls "The Greek Tradegy" has been avenged. (be sure to garrison this city, next person!)

1565: Cavalry will ship off to the new world from Hiobane.

Peace concluded with France in exchange for Grenoble and Chartes.

Rotten II dies of a strange lung condition that may have been related to his aggressive "stress-busting" habit. His reign sees the restoration of a stable situation, the acquistion of three cities, and hopefully a bright future.


Notes: Zululand had no interest in any kind of alliance against Rome. Understandable, considering how weak they are.

We were lucky to get a status quo peace, in my opinion. Rome has Cavalry and Riflemen...against knights.

The game will not give us a leader! I must have had at least six elite victories!

Our new world position will improve when the "cavalary arrives."

Zeroing science..not a great idea.

Anyway, things look better. I enjoyed the challenge.

i'll play this afternoon...trade for nationalism if possible...big question when we get it: draft riflemen or upgrade...in big cities draft'll be better, and upgrade in smaller cities when the loos of 1 person and 1 unhappy person is more sginificant...

crazy game guys.

Ive been reading about u guys playing this game for like... weeks

I finally got around to loading one of ur games and omg

I cant believe how bad ur econ is. :/

And whats up with all all those cities making military units that wont complete for more then 20 turns :/

Least i would do is make them atliest worth.
But since u guys are at war continuously i understand why :/

Longbows = cheaper and if u can micro them fairly well they are better then musket men. The attack is main point

The problem with Longbowmen is because of their speed. If we decided to attack, knights would be able to ride in, and we wouldn't have to worry about losing units until we have already taken a city ( Like Piscae )

If Longbowmen were used, not only will it take twice as long as to reach the target, but by that time, reinforcements would have arrived.

i was really busy last night so i only got a few turns done...but horrible news!! Rome had 5 units or so in our territory in various places and it was very annoying...they declered war when i asked them to leave

i cant either, and im IN the game...its because everyone else always is automating the workers, sovy kurosei is ALWAYS getting us into a war (he might have made maybe 1 round without a war) so we cant focus on improving our cities...we've expanded too quickly, we must stop to improve the territory we've got (just as close as a 20-30 squares or so away from our capital there is still a very low quality city (my example is Szlith, but there are a few others too)!)

its just war in republic government is the stupidest idea anyone ever thought of.

and i played umm sovy's last save game out and i held against rome and started pushing them back to rome and veil?? not sure of that city's name :/

And i got a hero both times i tried to play the save game :/
Rushed the smith's wonder :/ and it gave me a positive like +46 income.

U guys should seriously cancel the war with rome for 20 turns(atliest).
Ur econ is dying and that luxury crap is killing u.

heh yea i saw those workers going on auto...


u guys should lay off the republic government and go back to a monarchy i guarentee u will be pulling in 100+ gold a turn and ull be able to kill that gay luxury at 50% :/

and putting 2 musketmen in each city in peacetime might help...

Those riflemen roxxored like 5 of my knights when i tried to take veil. Then the 2 knights left over were massacred by junk units rome was creating to try to push me back with :/

yeah, i tried to get peace...but i cant stand having 5 roman units running around in our territory...i asked politely....Kurosei started it all anyway, it was relly dumb to start a war...thats why i went to republic, to force him into peace!!
