Have you never had a game go to transcendence before? I've had a couple of those. Of course, the huge map helps to reduce the possibilities for succesful warfare over long distances, especially early in the game.

As a matter of fact all the games I played ended with a military victory. From my experience sooner or later someone starts a war.
I won ACT043 with a diplomatic victory but that was after a long war with the other factions.

Even now I'm playing a game as the gaians in wich I was aiming for a transcend victory, but in the last turn I noticed that my neighbour (and pactmate BTW) already built one planet buster and is producing more.

I tried to post yesterday but the site was down & I forgot to include in my email the usual disclaimer regarding the double play you'll all get-- I think. I had the standard TerranX crash thingy.

I've had at least one game where a Misotu won with transcendence despite Googlie lobbing PB's at her. I agree though, 99% of games come down to a conquest sooner or later.

2223 to Viriato.

I've been waiting to use this ever since Misotu beat me to transcendence by one turn in ACT003 by cancelling our pact and now that I finally got a chance it didn't work.

You must have had better luck with your research options. I kept getting offered the wrong techs and I still don't have Threshold.
