good to hear from you Silence!

As for the Samnos invasion....

After the space battle, the ground war would just be mopping up, right? Cause if it is, would it be alright if I made some posts about the Hive launching planetary invasion?

To History Guy and Sprayber,

Thanks for not doing anything that directly involves the Hive! (Like, invading our space). But if you guys have anything that you want to collaborate with, I would be happy to oblige. Even though I am the "evil" Hive author, I'm not that evil in real life.

To History Guy-

Admiral Bippol did not murder unarmed civilians! He merely freed those citizens tied under the oppressive yoke of Nwabudike Morgan! He freed them of his tyrannical rule! (of course this is just propaganda unleashed by the Hive war machine.)

Silence--- Well...Kassiopeia declared war on them...I haven't moved them, but I may send the fleet to cover a Morganite withdraw from Naxos.

Franky--- We won't invade you...yet...don't worry. But what we are planning will definantly ruffle you guys, and Yang will not be pleased at all.

Why didn't I think of that? Bippol freed (errr...fried) those people from old Nwab! What a heroic guy! He should be strung up!

Well, I posted something little extra on the Hive webpage. Just a little tidbit information on how the Hive works. Still never did the History of the Species yet. gonna get to that soon.

Tell me what you think. If you want more, lemme know so I can post more info later. If ya want clarification, I'll try my best. If you want fries with that, go to McDonald's.

Something afoot. Spartan's cooking up something with the Morganites...must be careful.

Franky-- I'll take a look later...when I find the address...

The battle post is up, and I think I've just about covered everything. Franky and Kassiopeia took casualties, but inflicted casualties, too. What Kass and Franky have to do now is smash the last ditch skirmish line (which means destroying ships, platforms, and cannons) and land troops on Samnos to take out the two militia regiments. Should be fun...

I hope you like the post I wrote up...I didn't, but hey!

Now, what I plan to do next is a post that covers guerrilla actions off Samnos and switches back to the casino, where Delbar meets a rather unsavory little man, and so begins the sub-plot I'm working on...

And hey, Franky, pard, I did attack the battleship flagship thing. Bippol ain't dead, unless you want him to be, but the battleship was damaged, and the reactors are just about useless. It survived the fight, though.

OK, so I thought I was going to be gone till tomorrow but plans of have changed.

History: Great post. Go ahead and handle the rest of the Spartan side of the battle since the addtion of a fourth author doing the battle could get a little tricky.

I had some things written up for when I get back but I'll modify them somewhat and go a head and post them.

Do you think it's too soon for the offer? I think we want to time it right as the aggressors take the colonly but not a day later. Maybe even get things set up and send the message so that by the time it gets there, they are getting the news from their forces about the outcome. Maybe even spoil the news for them

Since technically Kessel still has to contact Morgan get his ok and then send the offical demand to the TA. And rub it in Yangs face.

Yes, he's with the Free Drones. However, if Kessel sent a message to the Cadre, the Council would get it and forward a copy to Menelaus. One of the things about Menelaus is he hates people making big decisions without his approval.

He was once a Spartan after all Good deal.

The reason I was asking was because I was kind of wandering where you were taking this Leonidas and the Hive thing. Certain operatives for the Spartan military have come across interesting information about possible Hive involvement in Cadre affairs to the point of hive officers actually being enlisted. Now information is lacking so Kessel is interested to know what Menelaus has to say about such reports. It's something I can hold on to if you have something good planed.

Speaking of Menelaus and the Cadre, the story is coming up as soon as I can get a free moment. Right now I'm in the Materials Science computer lab waiting to do a presentation I'm completely unprepared for. (I was planning on just talking unaided, and waving my arms around to distract from the fact that I don't have any material.) General, I hope you don't mind if I get into Menelaus' head a little. Nothing serious, just him musing about Firebrand Omega weapons satellites.

Got spare money?

I am seriously discouraged, like really.... wish i am able to participate as much, where i would of made sure TA does as planned, and not easilly influenced by others....

I read all of page 4 of the story while waiting for the phone line to be available, and wrote some stuff on TA and TAF. I don't like how TAF troops are portrayed, or completly sastified of TAF ships are portrayed...... sure they are humans, but there is such thing as going overboard and silly. TAF is a Elite Military Organization, training just as bad the spartans or worser coupled with the technologies used, which i described some in that writing i wrote to keep myself busy . TAF troops are not stupid like "hey, were the 25th terran marines...we are the whatever morganites, fire!!! terrans dies stupidly and surrender." like come on!!! Sure TAF is still technologically inferior, but doesn't mean it makes them weaker, especially ground warfare wise. TAF Ground Forces suppose to be quite tough to defeat in ground warfare combat, because of training, equipement and technology applications like Biometal, Power Armor, Gears, Medical Nanolath and so on... TAF also not stupid enough to be completly surprised either, or to be cannon fodder.

I am venting, yes.... but BAC starting to feel hopeless..... unbalance, inconsistancies, factors being ignored, annoying writing that make seem it came from a korny 50s sci-fi or korny startrek episode...or Rover Rick episode. What do you know! I have been looking for you people for so long! what? you also been looking for us all this time? even thought you have spies all the place like them and them who happen to be neighbours with me? Hey! lets give wacky techno terms like whatever-space, even thought it is just a quantum tunnel! look, we discovered a parralel pocket universe that as a time travelling machine glowing by cheese wize particles caused by the whatever-space travelling engines.. who could cause cheese wiz particles, must be the crazy manipulative yet secretive big fart Fraal motherships. oh my goodness!!! enemy entered out home system, completly not consideering the main forces, only the member forces. lets retaliate!!! wait! they already know the battle plans because my god told his plans to be fair with the other gods, who turn around to tell the enemy of them, like what??? I thought only the crazy believers are able to talk to god..... what is this crazy member doing, thinking they are running the whole alliance of crazy stupid no-nos? then have others judge us by their recklessness??? ahhh, my plans are doom!!!! because my god overheard hints of some secret plan to put me and the crazy dislikable yuts the crazy member made friends with behind our backs. oh my goodness!!! what they doing declaring war before the attack??? gee, so much for surprise!!! why is only my stupid no-nos gets completly suprised and not others, hmmm??? nooooo!! my poor babies being slaughtered by a few of those ships, just because my tech is less better then them, oh my goofness!!! ....... timewarps??? why do we need timewarps when have enough those??? some moves about really fast, doing heck of a lot in a month where another takes forever in a month...or take several months for something to happen from THEM.....uh oh, the universe is crashing!!! duck!!!!.......

i should stop, yes, sorry.......... i know, just a game, but i naturally take unrealistic things to the point of being argumentive.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Well, Mellian, BAC isn't exactly what I envisioned when I thought of it either. Even though things have happend that I don't especially like, I think over all its better than.

It's hard to write something when you must work around other people's schedules, personal lifes, and other ideas about how things should be. I'm sure each and every one of us looks at a portion of what is written and say gee, I would have never done it that way. But we all have sacrificed a little for the opportunity to write. If you recall the great Spartan Chronicles had lots of good stories and posts but at times it didn't gell. And we all know about the things in CC. That's just the way it goes. I know you get frustrated. So do I. And so do all of the rest of the guys I'm sure from time to time. Each and everyone of these guys are good writers when the are allowed to sit down and write what their imagination dreams up, but again when you force them to restrain themselves because another poster has to respond the result is that the segments appear choppy. It's not a matter of talent, but a matter of the enviroment that we write in.

The alternative is to do like the Spartan Chronicles. Assign each person a particular angle of BAC and let them handle that exclusivly. A battle is fought completely from one sides perspective. I don't want to do that cause I don't think it's as fun. But I'll put it out to the writers and let them decide.

Sorry. I got this story and one of my earlier one mixed up

A Cadre civil war would be an interesting twist to the story and I'm interested to talk about it. I can say that the Spartans would be very wary to get involved but wouldn't want Lysander to win since he is supported by Yang. But I assume that any overt help by the Spartans may very well hurt Menelaus more than it would help. It might be interesting for the Spartans to enforce some kind of blockage to try and keep supplies from reaching Lysander. That would be done quietly with as little spotlight as possible. Maybe have a long struggle with with Lysander nearly winning and triggering the Spartans to begin the process of sending in forces only to be asked by Menelaus to hold of saying that he is certain that he will prevail. just ideas of course.

Multi-author stories are inherently inefficient. In some ways man is a pack animal, but in other ways he is a lone wolf. Perhaps in fact he is both, at different times and settings.

Cadre civil war could be interesting. The Republic would stick with Sparta's line (unless Menelaus manages to wring some major deals out of Adams, hint hint preview preview). With GHE engagement as well you could be looking at the flashpoint for something big and nasty.

If this story composition (note, I regard this as a story, not a game) would be 'perfect', we would PM each other frequently and discuss matters over and over again before posting.
That would mean that the BAC would be on page one at this moment...

Get a bigger avatar today!

grrrr, I complain and vent, and then simply decided to skip page 5 and read the important interfaction issues and so on. Just when i have great ideas regain my confident in the story and about to add something to it finally last night, bloody forum crashes just when positivity is about to happen!!! darnit, apolyton sure likes to get me hooked, yet keep me miserable

Anyway, I suggest people DON'T anything to the Samnos battle until i can get to it tonite, as i don't trust kass with the TAF

I like how he plays Stormhill, but he seems to friendly with the Coalition

Kerensky will personally send messages to various factions, skipping the Council and Stormhill, which he can later use the charter as an excuse, that the TAF is leading the war and some people/member(s) are becoming liabilities to the war effort.

There is more then the TAF and EC ships in the System...which i realize we are ignoring the other two which their attacks will happen about the same time..... Mars, Venus and Scion ships are there too. SO DON't IGNORE THEM.. and they are not cannon fodder.

Last, TAF will not tolerate the Hive presense, especially if they dare try take the colony for themselves. meaning, Hive ships will be allowed to continue the space battle, but TAF will warn them not to land any troops on the colony, else the TAF will fire upon them. Hey, i did say from the start that the three systems will be captured under the TA banner, nowhere did i said the hive.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Sprayber-- Goooood post! Thanks for revealing the "grand master plan"...soon we'll put it into action...bwahahahahahahaha! As for doing the story like Spartan Chronicles, no, I don't think that'd be enjoyable. I am glad you liked how BAC turned out! I like it...

Anyway, I think we can squeeze you into the battle sequences at Naxos, perhaps (assuming, after our plan is hatched TA can even make it to Naxos). It won't clog up anything. By the way, 1st Corps has been moved from Samnos and Naxos to Pollux already.

OK, LordMP-- I am soooo delighted that you utterly hated my story posts. Heck, yeah it's just real wonderful to me...warm inside all the sudden...HEY! WAIT! WHAT AM I SAYING???? Sorry...Anyway, I apologize if my posts were not enjoyed. The guys who the Company A, 8th Vol. Regiment blasted had been mentioned before as being surrounded by a whole brigade of men. These guys had just cut themselves out of a trap, and were bloody exhausted, with little organization left. They'd been fighting all day non-stop.

And hey! I never watch Star Trek anyway, so I trust I haven't done anything to that effect. The Recon Rover Episode was simply made to be enjoyed and to poke some fun at shows like Star Trek.

Frankly, Kassiopeia is bloody right!

Thanks Mr. President! I am gratified!

The Enterprise battle group will stage to the Morgan Interstellar homeworld in the post after my next one. (My next one will end with President Adams being called away from the Menelaus negotiations for an important message from Joint (Morgan-Spartan-Drone) Co-Ordination.)

As for the story, I don't really feel that it's all that unbalanced. Certainly there have been problems, but it flows very well as is. Like they say, if it ain't broke . . .

edit: Actually, there is something else I would like to talk about, but it doesn't really have a lot to do with the actual story at the moment. I read over in the Datalinks area that much research is being put into war walkers, in the tradition of Mechwarrior.

I was wondering how effective a war walker would actually be in 28th century warfare. It would be a tall order to make them efficient and stable, particularly the humanoid ones. Insectoid and arachnid walking configurations are much more stable than bipedal ones. You'd worry about them being tripped up like the AT-ATs in The Empire Strikes Back. Plus you'd have to worry about the speed of their motion. Wheeled (rover), tracked (tank), or aerofoil (hovertank) vehicles move much, much faster than most things can walk, and the walkers would also be extremely vulnerable to fast aerial machines like needlejets and gravships, as well as presenting a large target for missiles. Any thoughts?

Actually War Walkers and battlemechs are horribly inneficent designs compared to what a tank can do. They really are walking big targets compare to the smaller and faster tanks.

And History Guy would you mind if I had the SoG fleet at Capella send a taskforce to help out defend your colonies?

Also since the TAF declared war on the Believers, perhaps the forces that are not fighting under the SoG flag and not holding off the HOGs could form another taskforce and help fight in the war.

If I could just say something... Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Well...

At the birth of BAC, Sprayber (a.k.a. Thread-God) did say that this was to be a collaborative effort on each author's part.
Needless to say, when there are numerous individuals with their own opinion on how things should be handled, there will be conflict. An example is the U.S.A.

Each state has their own opinion on how things should be handled and sometimes things "go-against-the-grain" so to speak. But the amalgamated effort is something quite unique.

To address the topic of things "Not Going a Certain Way",

Myself, I am a very open person. Therefore, if someone has an idea about the Hive I would be glad to collaborate with them on it...even if it is detrimental toward the Hive. So, if an author wants to kill of a Hive citizen or whatever, I will listen to the opposing authors reason. If the reason is valid, then I would give the go ahead.

IIRC, I have collaborated with many authors and thank each one of them. I must admit that they did allow me a LOT of lee-way for my idea's and thank each of them. For those authors that I have not had much contact with, I apologize but right now the direction I am taking the Hive plot does not involve those govt's right now.

Lastly,

I have also seen things that I have not thought were to my liking, but in retrospect I believe that it makes BAC that more interesting to participate in. When something is unpredictable it possesses wonder and incites curiosity to see what will happen next. For instance, I was thinking the Hive would take control over Samnos-but other authors want Samnos for themselves. Does it throw a wrench in my plans?....Yes. Am I upset that I didn't get things my way?...No, because so far I have noticed that when something in BAC occurs not according to my plan, I can adjust the Hive plot without too much effort.

I believe that the main rules of BAC are:

1. Collaborate with the other authors

2. Remain consistent with what already posted

3. Think realistically

4. Be Fair

5. Enjoy participating in BAC!

Well, that's my shtick. Enough boring stuff, time to discuss recent events...

I like the posts dealing with Samnos
(Morgans and Spartans= )

As for the Hive command ship,

Thanks for not killing him! I'm making refinements on the Hive's view of the Morgan/Spartan attack on the People's Glory as we speak. So readers will see what it looks like from Bippol's P.O.V.

K, gonna go read the story thread now...I'll be back.

BTW, I'm having a brainstorm....

frankychan has just read the Spartan post and frankychan is surprised!

Does Nwabudike actually believe that after this crisis Kessel would give up all of Morgan Interstellar's wealth?! It sounds like Kessel is the only tyrant around here, not Yang!

Watch out Morgan! You'd have better luck siding with Yang!

Sounds ok to me, Silence and Mr. President.

Franky-- Hope I haven't disappointed in any way!

Thanks Franky. I didn't have the heart to blow up Bippol. Heck, I even liked Brackus better than Bippol, but hey, if you want him to live, I'll let him live...

Yang + Morgan? What????!!! After what you guys have just done to us? The CEO simply says:

Don't worry, Morgan knows Kessel will not hold onto the co-operate sector longer then expected, because if he betrays Morgan it will not look good to his other allies. Besides, Morgan was a big help when fighting Yang on Chiron...

Sparta has been involved in small scale contruction of Mechs in a way for years for small scale riot control. I'm looking at other smaller veichles.
