I see more and more of these I am gay threads..

You just need to realize Mr.Fun that not everyone will accept this no matter how much you argue with them about it
..Not everyone will accept the fact that you like the same gender. I personally have no problem with it..but some people where raised with the understanding that this is wrong.. I have heard it coming from my own parents.."It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve"

I don't believe in condeming people because they are different, I do not have the right to judge you unless I want you to judge me!

The whole concept of coming out is so that people will know who you really are..you can't live your whole life just going through the motions so that everyone else BUT YOURSELF can have that certain peace of mind of knowing who you really are and that you are secure in this revelation...

All I have to say is....
YOU GO !!

Be yourself..if they don't like it they can kiss your arse

As long as they stay to themselves and don't bother me I will accept it because it doesn't affect me. This is the same kind of reasoning many people use in the real world. "As long as it doesn't affect me, I don't care"... and I think it is the most proper reasoning to follonwg... don't you agree?

And what is the "rational" thought process of your last statement.
Are you making an ignorant statement that all Republicans are bigots... just typical nonsense from stewie.

You are the one making bigoted posts... so look in the mirror instead of pointing your finger at straw dogs...

It is illogical that straight men would object to gay men being around, commonplace, and in the open. It:
provides a population of productive (currently more so than average men) persons who do not much increase population growth (children are all comsumption and not much production);
B. Provide a main source of rich bachelor uncles;
c. Reduces competetion for gorgeous naked supermodels and other females.

Likewise for hetro women & lesbians(switching gender on nouns above).

Of course part C does not apply for Heteros veiwing homosexuals of the opposite sex.

My God is not as STUPID as those of your's that condemn Homoseuxality. he is a god of rationality (albeit somewhat alien to us pitiful humans) and SUCCESS. Not a LOSER god of of irrational bias and failure.

Yeah, right! Sheesh, even the People's Republic of China has given up on that one, and I don't think the CCP is very vulnerable to gay lobbying groups. When Chinese studies showed that gay Chinese men (1) were able to form long-term romantic unions just like straights, (2) had no social problems other than those caused by ostracism, Beijing changed the law. Sometimes I think gay marriage will happen here before it does in the US!

Lesbians have it easy in that regard though with in vitro fertilization. I'd like to see a gay couple pull off the same trick.

Easy! In vitro fertilization of one partner's sister. The resulting child is pretty darn close to being the genetic offspring of both daddies.

The animosity, the ignorance, and maybe even some hatred from some of the people on Apolyton saddens me.
Those people do not even have the decency to respect at least the human feelings that homosexuals and bisexuals have -- the same feelings heterosexuals have.

But anyway, thanks for your kind words, Blackwidow24.

And Boddington, two gay men can choose which of the two would donate sperm to a surrogate mother. THAT is how gay men can produce their own biological children.

I think the gay men are therefore being selfish; thinking only of themselves and totally disregarding the quality of life of the child born "to" them.

I do not believe that sexual orientation of the parents affects the quality of life the child will live.

The homophobia in the society is what makes the life of a child of gay parents difficult and painful.

A child is raised best with a mother and father:

In Fatherless America: Confronting Our Most Urgent Social Problem, David Blankenhorn discusses the different but necessary roles that mothers and fathers play in their children’s lives: "If mothers are likely to devote special attention to their children’s present physical and emotional needs, fathers are likely to devote special attention to their character traits necessary for the future, especially qualities such as independence, self-reliance, and the willingness to test limits and take risks."

Blankenhorn further explains: "Compared to a mother’s love, a father’s love is frequently more expectant, more instrumental, and significantly less conditional. … For the child, from the beginning, the mother’s love is an unquestioned source of comfort and the foundation of human attachment. But the father’s love is almost a bit farther away, more distant and contingent. Compared to the mother’s love, the father’s must frequently be sought after, deserved, earned through achievement."

Author and sociologist David Popenoe also discusses the different roles that mothers and fathers have in their children’s lives in his book Life without Father. He notes, "Through their play, as well as in their other child-rearing activities, fathers tend to stress competition, challenge, initiative, risk taking and independence. Mothers in their care-taking roles, in contrast, stress emotional security and personal safety." Parents also discipline their children differently: "While mothers provide an important flexibility and sympathy in their discipline, fathers provide ultimate predictability and consistency. Both dimensions are critical for an efficient, balanced, and humane child-rearing regime."

Boddington's I know perfectly normal and well-adjusted people who grew up in gay families. As long as there isn't the pressure towards a specific orientation that there is in straight families, they'll be just fine.

Even more fine if they were allowed to marry.

Boddington, our society has constructed those so-called gender roles that claim that such roles are only exclusive to one gender.

Many parental roles can transcend the person's gender.

Oh for christ's sake give it a rest, you half-witted little gobshite.

This is a rough, tough and callous world, and too many kids get brought up by appalling bastards who spit out by-blows without thought. Each child born and raised to thoughtful and loving parents should be seen as a triumph, and if the numbers of this are boosted by more gay couples taking part then I'm all for it.

No, no, no... I am saying it the wrong way. They can get along with their business but not bother me. If I was bothered I probably lose my temper. And damn it, I am being honest there. If it went far enough I would try to get an restraining order for harassment.

quote:

They shouldn't blurt it out in my face. I am fine with who they are, but I am not fine with them becoming obnixous to the point where I lose my temper. I have a temper, and I try to control it but when people are shoving things at my face like what they think I can lose this temper.

I hope that is not hurtful. I do accept homosexuality/bisexuality, but I am not ignorant enough so that these people are given a right to blurt these things out in front of my face. I don't run around screaming I am straight because that would be obnixous.

I hope no one gets this the wrong way.

We're trying to make the point that sexual orientation does not determine whether people make good parents. Gays do not automatically make better parents, and straights do not automatically make better parents.

And besides, the gender roles are socially constructed -- many of the parental roles that are not biologically based can be seen in either gender.

Check with any leading sociologist about this.
