Here we go. Nothing much happened.
The German Supreme Command has requested communication with the Austro-HUNGARIAN government.

14 German divisions annihilated outside Kaunas! Apparently their commander wasn’t aware that seven Russian infantry divisions were fortunately on the roads outside Grodno, en route to the front at Bialystok. They, along with the garrison for Grodno itself, launched swarms of brave suicidal attacks on the German forces south of Kaunas, and then they destroyed nine whole divisions stacked just west of it. It is believed (hoped) that these 9 units were the bulk of the German artillery forces on the eastern front, as there was no infantry escorting them.
We do not have the capability to make major offensives yet, and perhaps not even enough to take Kaunas back, but this victory has probably bought us a years worth of time on the defensive.
Scouts also report that an Austro-Hungarian offensive is descending on Lemberg. As Russia doesn’t have the technology necessary to build fortifications for the city, our forces have withdrawn to a line at Zhitomir which they hope to hold.

The German Supreme Command has dismissed the Russian counteroffensive as "weak and insignificant." The losses were overall neglible and precautions are now underway to prevent them from being repeated. The monthly production of ten new artillery brigades and ten new infantry divisions is more than sufficient to replace any minor losses on the Eastern Front and continue to sustain the anticipated pace of the advance upon Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

All of Germany is now aglow with news of yet more great triumphs from the Eastern Front. Coming quickly on the heels of a Russian offensive that resulted in only a minor setback, the Supreme Command has executed a devastating military offensive, capturing Grodno, Riga, and Vilnius in a series of swift and powerful offensives. The rapid advance of German troops threatens to cut off the rump of Russian Poland from the rest of Russia and to enable a drive to Saint Petersburg itself in the Spring. Crowds filled the Berlin streets to cheer the news, in hopes that the Russians would soon be forced from the war, enabling the matter of France to be settled once and for all.

It seems the Austrians called my bluff. In fact Lemburg was filled to the brim with offensive units, and they were used to annihilate 13 Austrian divisions that had gathered outside Lemburg.
In the north, Russian commanders laugh at the boasts of the kaiser. Although no Russian counteroffensive is forthcoming, it is certain that the Germans have no capability to grind through the miles to St. Petersburg. However, while the situation in Poland and Lithuania isn't dire in the least, it is far more stressing to the czar that hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of shields of Russian production were wasted when the loss of the cities caused the AI to step in.
I guess I just have to accept that as long as I'm losing cities I can't build anything. And this is the case because every time a city is lost, almost every city starts building a goddam silo. The only thing I can do is either not build anything, or build what the AI wants so that all it will have to build is the Raw Materials improvements and military units I had wanted.

Now who's capable of defeats on a French level, eh?
*gabs MC*
And to be blunt, the only thing standing between the German Army and Saint Petersburg is the lack of railroads, a problem which will soon be solved.
