Seriously though- I'm not too sure. I was thinking the GHE was self-sufficient without any need to have "outside" stuff, but since Mr. President wants to have trade with us....I have to think about it. I don't want other people running around with Hive tech so I might have to think of something.

I also got around to post the Novans latest actions... writing is dull, but oh well.

Sovereign... points i forgot concernign techs:

Cloak already involves manipulating light, not exactly a Quantum thing.

Plasma Shard Buckshot, as far as I know, is no different to a normal Plasma Cannon....which practicly all of the factions have the tech for and mainly useful in heavy cap to cap slug fest.

Frank, if Mars Combine is part of the Terran Alliance who is against having any relations with the Hive and that Mars Combine is more of a good guy and individualistic then Earth Coalition, what makes you think they like the Hive?

They may be socialists and operate a Planned Economy, but doesn't mean they are like the Soviets who Totalaritans Facists disguised as Communists. Think of the Free Drones in SMAX when you think of Mars Combine.

Ahh well, the Quantum Cloaking I had in mind would be much more effective. Light will be forced through the ship, rather than being deflected off it. Also, it will provide good hiding from standard sensors, since they cannot search or detect Quantum signatures very well other than FTL travel. In other words, Quantum Cloaking will hide the ship's Quantum Signature, as well as more efficient means of diverting light itself.


As for Plasma Shard Buckshot, I believe Plasma Shards is level 13 weaponary, while Tachyon Beams are level 12 weaponary in the SMAC game.

Guys,


I've been doing a lot of serious thinking lately.

I was thinking about starting my own fiction thread, but using the same UCS as in the BAC thread.

I was thinking, since the UCS is out of the way of the main areas of interest, or wars....

When we have the Progenitor Invasion, I'd like to split off the UCS into a different thread.

I'm not saying I'm taking the UCS off BAC... just creating an...

Parallel Universe.


Here's what I envision.

During the Progenitor Invasion, the UCS is faced with its greatest decision.

1. Aid the Human Alliance in repelling the Progenitors.

This will be the UCS decision in the BAC story thread.

2. Keep to their corner of the Galaxy and let the rest of Humanity fight the war.

This will be my Parallel Universe, exploring the "What could have happened" stuff.



When are we planning to have the Progenitor Invasions? 2705? 2710?

I think this would make an interesting "twist" in much the same way that Star Trek does with its Mirror Universe. Something to that effect. Besides, it'll allow me to keep my creative juices flowing.

What I meant to say is that it would be unfortunate that the gracious Mars Combine would view the Hive as a Totalitarian regime! Yang only wishes to see the people of Mars, as well as the Terran Alliance as a whole, understand that Hive nature is peace through prosperity. We Hivers are an enlightened group who only wish to see others live in perfect harmony with one another!

It would be a shame if the people of Mars possessed an anti-Hive stance! The GHE is only looking out for its ancestors in the legendary Sol System!

Well...I guess I've got a post coming now, then. The Pirates may have won this fight, but they neglected to mention the nearby fighter transport convoy, which has a lot of fighters and has not come in contact with the Pirates, and so it can't be that the algorithim has rendered them useless. I guess my next post will deal with them. What should I do, Mellian? Either I can drive off the Pirates, who will leave for Terran land, or the Pirates can hold.

BTW, on Sym, I seem to have made a monster...

Kass- Guess so. I give you carte blanche on whatever you decide for Mr. Sym, as long as my guy gets to the Hive, and becomes a more interesting figure!

LMP- OK, here's what I'll do. The Pirates have sent a portion of the fleet to go secure a nearby station, which they take to be unguarded. However, it is far from unguarded now, as a transport of fighters has come in, and knows of the Pirate attack, and blunts the assault. However, before a second Pirate attack can be launched, the cease-fire orders are given by the Terrans and the Morgans. How's that?

Sovereign... what your describing is pretty much Phase Cloak... where the ship phases toanother plane, yet still there... also able to go through other ships and so on. That doesn't involve Quantum i think

Talking about Cloaking, what kind of technology would that require? My guess would be Photon/Wave Mechanics, or whatever it is, letting you manipulate the light to go around instead of bouncing off.

i was under the impression that Hive cloaking technology actually did allow the object to "disappear" visually....maybe I was wrong?
