What's the issue with XP? I have CtP set to run in a 98 environment (XP setting), and as far as I know I can host. Haven't tried loading saves tho.

i got win2000pro, which has the same problems as XP.
i am interested, but i cannot promise anything yet.

should we have the same teams as in PBEM SL ?
should we look to put weaker players together with stronger players ?
should we maybe make single player rankings and not team rankings ?

I think linking a host with a none host is important.. But yes I feel that teams should be balanced for ability, then everyone gets something out of it!

Yeh I run it as 98 emulator, it is just that people cannot join a game you create.. There is, I understand, no way round this..

Math U are no amateur! But yes that is the general idea, someone who has a lot of online experience, with someone that has little or none..

Let me try and summarise...

We have the following agreed players

Azrael
Blackice
Quinns
Filix
Rickityclick
Milamber
Mathemagician
Gavrushka

Of these we have two confirmed hosts in Blackice and Azrael. But As I understand we have two or three more hosts about to join, and I will in a couple of weeks run 98 off a new PC

Do we need a new thread for this?

if i get this right, we cannot afford more than 1 team without a host player, so almost every 2nd player would need to be able to host.

what do you in a game where one player dies if that player was the host ?

Yes.. for 8 players we would need 3 hosts. With me that makes 3, with filix, that makes 4. Yoda, 5, grafxfx and Atilla 6 and 7!

but with these players we would also need more than 3 hosts.
i think one host per team is essential.
still there is a chance that if the two hosts in a 2x2 game are the first to die, the game wont be able to continue, right ?

NO! LOLOL.. All new players are hosts.. I have not seen a game go to total annihilation. I say the game concludes and victory is granted if EITHER of an opponents civs are totally wiped out.. The mechanics of the gameplay will make allowances for this and can be discussed in detail later.

All new players are hosts.

Ill sign up if theres still room, i cannot play until after 2. june as i have 5 more exams in the forthcomming 2 weeks. After that 1 hour every 2nd week should be np, but i would suggest a little more time as minimum. 1 hour around 200ad aint many turns for 4 players.
And what kinda land we talking? hope we wont play a mountain only world with max goods, i suggest a more "normal" world with less goods to prevent the very fast science. With that high science much of the game play is lost due to the fact units are absolete before you get them too the front etc.
