Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Solver, have you tried using the latest JRE's? They do a pretty good job! I'm not gonna tell you that they're as fast as c++, but extremly close. Given the good speed, portability, much faster development and the wealth of packages readily available, it's a pretty good choice for us!

Anyways, people usually debate Java vs. C++ for ever, and that is definitly not what I am trying to do. I just wanted to show you our reasoning for the choice of java.

Actually there are quite a few articles on the subject with links still on the old website. I'm still in the C++ camp myself, but have little experience with Java. Hopefully after this project is complete, that will change.

I find Java quicker to program in, but I don't have too much experience with either.
