Actually, the answer is obvious. Think about it. What is the truly unique European flag model that no other continent uses? That's right, the Scandinavian Cross! A completely classic design that's present on the oldest surviving flag in the world, the Danish Danneborgen, and that's part of three pre-exisitng EU flags.

Obviously the star theme would have to be retained, and the colours of the present flag for the sake of continuity.

No, no, the stars don't represent Member States. Bah, maybe it's too complicated, how about retaining the colours but converting it completely into a scandinavian cross, yellow on a blue background?

well anything is better than the bar code.

but I think the best solution is just the Greek flag (where it all started from) with the stars of the member states in the place of the white cross (to get rid of it finally). we can add as many stars as needed.

it will also look like the US flag so that we can have a fond fuzzy all inside feeling of connectivity.
(yes I don;t have photoshop installed)
