It's an exaggeration to say that Russia has joined NATO. Russia has not become a member. It's just that another form of joined council has been created.

In reality, with all these NATO and EU expansions, Russia is getting more and more isolated and lonely. Interests of Russia and her citizens are infringed upon. And nobody really cares. Perhaps now Russia is one of the loneliest countries in the world. The creation of a new joint council may just disguise this sad truth, but unfortunately can't change the essence.
