You guys should seriously try Netzero then. AOL doesn't have an ad banner covering half of your screen, with most of the bandwidth devoted to it.

Cable is only in urban areas. I am glad to live in the country, not in da 'hood.

Oh well, I can handle slow speed. And you should get out more if you don't care about being made fun of. I don't need 20 friends like some people but I don't want to be isolated.

Yeah, well everyone knows that cable or DSL is better than 56k but that doesn't mean I can use it. Moving up to AOL from Netzero is like moving from 56k to DSL. I bet none you you have even used Netzero or AOL. I guess people hate the big corporations. If they don't take up commercial space, some other company will. I think people don't like their annoying ads or their CDs they mail you. As an ISP they are top notch.

I used to use AOL before they stung me with a 500 quid bill for 2 months internet usage. At that time (2 years ago) I had the same 56k modem I have today, but of course AOL didn't even support 56k modems so I was forced down to 34k speeds. After the enourmous overpricing fiasco we've moved onto 3 other ISPs, 2 of them run by small companies, and each was far far better and far less costly (plus in my experience IE is a far better browser than the **** AOL supply you with).

2.95 an hour just to be connected to the internet... not including phone bills...

AOL is a good source of coasters (I have a dozen different "flavours" of the v.5.0 coasters - my geek friends love 'em and my wife makes me hide them when anyone else is over) but not much else.
Rasslin, once you get to a college dorm and start using a pure, unadulterated connection to the net you'll look back on this thread with the same kind of nausea you'll feel when thinking of the birds and bees speech your dad gave you.
