Well, the manually attached single pieces weren't really attached to the main body close enough, it was impossible without sewing, for which I lacked ability and resources. It is drying out now, terribly quickly.

The relevant parts (where it was ripped off worse, single parts etc.) are turning limp quickly.

Should I cut them off in order to save the bottom half and the top (which is also getting limp but still conencted t the rest by that main string thing)?

Actually Andz (why do people call you Andz?) it's a plant. There is a very good chance that it will continue to grow from the bottom up. I'm not an expert of cacti, but other plants recover quite readily from being snipped off the top. Here's hoping.

This is really sad. Cactus is men's best friend.
I have quite some of them. I just wonder if I'm not getting a bit similar to my cactus puppies.

lol, no offense.

I just find a 5 page thread about a cactus humorous. I love this place.

We have plenty of cacti where I live. The funny thing though is some of the cacti in my front yard die, yet they thrive every where else outside my city in the desert. It seems they didn't get enough water. Well I thought the whole point was they didn't need a lot of water. Hence the desert. And I live in a desert.

This is how the drought has been here. We don't even get enough rain to support cacti.
